Left 4 Dead 2 sells over 2 million copies at retail alone; DLC announced soon

Add on the Steam numbers and this game is a hit. :D

Fans can't seem to get enough of shooting zombies.

Valve Software announced today Left 4 Dead 2 has sold over 2 million units worldwide since its release just two weeks ago. The company points out these results are for retail copies only, and not digital copies downloaded from Steam, making this news even more impressive.

"Left 4 Dead 2 is off to a great start with strong support at retail and great reviews from the press," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "Meanwhile the title has already been played by over 1 million Xbox LIVE Gold account holders, and news regarding L4D2 DLC 1 is coming very soon."

The company says the stronger than expected sales were spurred by the Black Friday holiday shopping frenzy.

To date, Left 4 Dead 2 has already outsold the original game released one year ago by more than double, according to Valve.

I'd love a Counter-Strike sequel too.. but there is nothing I want more than Episode 3 right now.

well it was on sale for 35 bucks a week after release. no wonder it sold so well. lets hope more new good games are on sale next year:wink:

Great news for Valve. Im glad its selling well. the game is incredibly fun

Valve also sold ALOT on STEAM for pc aswell.
Those numbers are probably doubled now imo if you include the STEAM PC numbers.

The game is awesome, its the game that Left4Dead1 shoulda been, its bette rin every way!

i agree l4d2 is a great game.

Considering a lot of copies will also be sold through STEAM. They are incredibly awesome numbers.
