This game looks so sick!!! Show of hands if you play fighting games and if so, what's your fighter of choice?

Damn, does look nice. But yeah, crossplay is a must.

Been actively avoiding them since once I'm in that mode that's all I'll play. It's like a legit addiction lol.
Play just about everything tho. SF, Tekken, GG, BB, KI, KoF, SG, MvC, DBFZ, etc. Basically most major fighters that aren't MK or IJ.
But mostly a SF guy. Love the way SF plays + it always has an active online base. Would play more GG and KoF if they were more active. Basically have to set up sets with Discord peeps, which is fine, but it's nice to just play randos at your rank whenever you like.
I love fighting games but they aren't as much fun when all my friends are dispersed around the states, fighting games need to be enjoyed on the couch so I can talk sht while I'm beating on you. The last one I was really into was Street Fighter 4 and played the crap out of it. SFV was the only reason I bought a PS4 but I ended up not really liking that game after a month.
MK is an interesting series but it's hard to put lab time into a game when there's no one around to abuse with that skill, online is just not the same.
@sakaixx:
Yeah, can't think of a crossplay game that doesn't let you do that tbh.
I usually kept it open with SFV tho. Couple of thousand hrs of play, never noticed any difference in match between PC and PS4 players. Would get lag switchers from both camps, but what can ya do.
Occasionally I'd limit it to only PC players, but just so the matches would load faster. Shouldn't even be an issue with these new consoles though.
Edit: Oh, but not sure why you'd disable it with KoF lol. Not sure if you've played these games online, but they're usually dead after a week. Be lucky to have a player base even with crossplay.
Looks like a PS2 game in 4k. Do these devs forget there are newer engines in 2021? Once upon a time, fighting games were one of the better looking games around. What happened?
@louixiii: That does look really good.
My preferred Fighter is Street Fighter 5, IMO it was the best one last gen.
KOF14 for me was an easy 2nd.
The visuals are meh and very dated SP content, but the amount of fighters at launch was dizzying. Combine that with the card-deck like system of pre-selecting a team, easy to pull off moves, battle system, got a lot of play depth to it while still being super approachable to just pick up and play with a rudimentary knowledge.
But, dead, dead, dead. And it seems they still won't learn.
Only time really got a solid play-time was with Conan, beyond that it was some bloke in China with a 300 ping who'd put your face through the ground.
Fantastic game undermined by SNK being way behind the times.
I pretty much suck at fighting games but I do recall beating Conan once which is one of my career highlights. The second being besting the first two opponents at a college Smash tournament because they failed to show up.
@SolidGame_basic: its no surprise you like Sony's easy games, i mean if beating a guy who has a bong in one hand the majority of the time is a "career highlight" then you're worse at video games then i could have ever imagined 🤣🤣🤣
😂
Yep, I’ve been keeping my eye on this game and it’s looking great indeed. I’m really hoping that this one makes its way to the Xbox platform this time. I absolutely love fighting games and play most of them so I don’t know if I can honestly just pick one as my game of choice. Love these franchises the most probably:
- Street Fighter
- Marvel vs Capcom
- Blazblue
- Tekken
- Soul Calibur
- King of Fighters
- Darkstalkers
- Super Smash Bros.
- Killer Instinct
Legit pay money to see IP play Conan.
Probably be a disconnect mid match.
Either the rage quit or the Aussie connection, whichever comes first.
Ok one of you buy the game for me as im not spending money on shitty fighting games, then cup you can pay me say a hundy and i will then beat on conan while you watch.
Im no quitter conan, you would probably rage quit and blame it on spilling the bong water on your PC 🤣🤣🤣
My friend. I would actually buy you the game just to embarrass you. But alas, you don't own a real gaming platform.
Sorry.

Who's your main in SF? How good are you?

I'm alright. Haven't played any fighting games regularly since early 2018. Was Platinum last I played ranked. If I were to hop on now, probably hang in Gold/Super Gold.
Ever wanna run some sets, let me know. Been thinking about diving back in, saw they just kicked off the new season.

Yes! The force is strong with this one xD
As hyped as i'am for this game, i can't avoid to think this is how KOF 14 should have been from the beginning, still this is looking sweet, i like how the engine "feels" on the trailers, like very fluid and responsive, hard to describe it, but i'm liking it so far... if only we could do something about the protagonist ... he really sucks.
Anyways I'm from Mexico, so of course i have KOF running through my blood and i've been a fan for more than 20 years now, still remember the first time i saw KOF94 at the Arcades and was blown away by the 3v3 concept. This gen i've been more of a SF player and i love SFV despite the shortcomings, however i'm damn ready to get back into KOF shape, hopefully this will have cross play and the recently adapted "rollback" netcode they used in 2002 UM, so yeah ... hyped but with caution.
@louixiii: Nope! Not giving my money straight to Riyadh.
When did Saudis started making or publishing games? If true that would be LOL worthy for a regime that like to suppress art but want to get rich from it.
They own majority stake in SNK... I wish I was making that up.
Yet, compared to say Blizzard and Tencent (China) and the Blitzchung incident, I'm seeing MUCH less people harp on SNK for this

Oh great... now they're trying to rival China in making it HARD to protest them. As if the WWE wasn't enough...

You sound like me. I hit platinum and took a year and a half off and sunk to super gold but before I did I won 1 online tourney and did moderately well at Xanadu 2018 in Maryland. Please add me because I want to get back into it too.

@louixiii: I sadly haven't played SFV for at least a year, just got to many other games.
My main from day one has been Necalli, just loved his look and moveset. Who's yours?
Ryu. I want to get back into it. You want to spar sometime?
born_hero_III add me
Looks like a sausage fest of a line-up, I am gonna need to get myself in the mood first by listening to this:

Exactly. @nintendoboy16 We've been supporting companies supported by questionable people probably all of our lives. This is no different. The way I see it, we're supporting the dev and if they're delivering a quality product, then why complain? At least they're not crunching like CDPR

Blizzard says "hello" after late 2019. Who, like I said, have been blacklisted by many gamers after what they did to a pro-Hearthstone player for supporting the Hong Kong protests.

Thank you for supporting my point lol Blizzard, a questionable company, was supported for years on end and still is but people who love their software don't care. The difference here is it's not SNK themselves, it's one of their shareholders that you have a problem with but the actual developers are merely trying to bring forth great content where as with Blizzard, their actual company got involved to screw that guy for voicing his beliefs which was wrong. 2 different scenarios
KoF has always been a poor man's Street Fighter.
Not really, if anything there was a time when SF was chasing KOF's success ... Fatal Fury was the poor man's SF, then again with Real Bout it managed to be its own thing and it completely surpass it with Mark of the Wolves.
I love Street Fighter, but everyone can see that KOF truly shined on its own.
I don't give a shit as long as it's good. And KOF is 98% good. From what I've seen.
And it does have it's own unique mechanics. Namely it's Team Battle system, which is awesome from what little I dabbled. Like a fookin' card game almost.
It's something SF should rip-off lol
And no don't really equate MvC as the same, it's mechanically different where you swap on a whim.
edit - Dam kinda in to the mood to play it now.

There is no time when KOF has ever surpassed street fighter either commercially or critically.
I love fighting games so I respect the the hardcore fan base but SNK has been behind Capcom for years. I will say this looks like a much better effort the last KOF.

Um, that is a lie. Blizzard "die hards" didn't even defend their antics in Hong Kong. And even on more separate and minor issues, they ain't defending them now after the recent botch job of Warcraft III AND with how Activision offed Vicarious Visions (who redeemed Crash and Tony Hawk Pro Skater) and absorbed them into Blizzard... because that was smart... NOT!
Those shareholders are linked with the company now. So pardon me if I'm not comfortable with SNK (or even Activision, Take 2, and EA for that matter) being linked with the man who murdered a Saudi-American journalist. Bad enough with the WWE...
@silentchief: I'm not really in the mood for arguing, specially not when it comes to fighting games which I've been playing them all my life ... I'm just going to say that SF flopped hard after SFII and it only recovered with SFIV which it was the last chance for the franchise. That's not really an opinion but how it went. Of course, KOF also flopped with XI and XII and it recovered with XIII, but yeah ... The times when SNK was playing catching up are really far behind ... Like mid 90s probably, and again ... Not an opinion.
