June SDK - Bungie brings 1080p for Destiny on Xbox One

The June SDK boosts performance and brings platform parity. Bungie says Destiny on Xbox One will be 1080p a boost from the previously rumoured 900p resolution. This will be the beginning of the end of Resolution gate. What have cows go to cow about now?

Yeah I listened to Major Nelson podcast on bungie/destiny.

The more GPU allocation allowed the xboxone version to get a higher resolution. It seems like it was chilling in 900p before.

They acknowledge that they were working to fix the resolution issues. They intended it to be 900p and the game was built around it until recently. To get it to 1080p they hit a loss of frame rate. It was suppose to be 900p and 40+ fps. Now it is 1080p and 30fps.

30 fps for a shooter is going to be brutal.

i'm sure the digital foundry analysis for destiny will be more thrilling than the birth of salt the fries' progeny.

Wonder what graphical effects will be sacrificed for this. Depth of field is a popular one so far in comparisons. Maybe the AA will take a hit.

We know the frame rate was at least a sacrifice. They dropped the frame rate and have it at 30fps.

I thought I was like the only person who cared about Destiny on these forums. I been making threads the past few weeks and no one really showed interest.

Did he say anything about Xboxone being the best version? We all know that the playstation 4 will be the best version (unless a pc version comes out).

Too soon to know the extent of it's effect. Thought any improvement is good. And you must take into account that as much as new SDKs can improve performance, it can never improve the hardware potential, only realize it, so console parity is just unachievable.

Little Big Planet was one of the most critically acclaimed new IPs last generation and LBP3 will only build on that . Project Spark has proven nothing and is free 2 play garbage until it proves otherwise. Also Project Spark isn't exclusive because Microsoft first party is garbage.

frame rate is more a by product of graphical improvements (or downgrades) more so than they are a "sacrifice" You have a target frame rate and you do whatever you can to hit that target basically.

If PS4 gets downgraded it just means Xflop will be worse. No one said Xflop can't do 1080p...it just can't do with all the effects the PS4 can. That is a FACT. Guy I don't mind Xflop getting quality versions of games as long as the PS4 version is not gimped for parity.

Depends. While the PS4 has a better GPU then the Xbox One, we really don't know how efficient either are or what % of efficiency they will realize in their lifetime. The specs were given are "peak" performance but rarely will it get reached. Both are also bottle-necked by their tablet CPUs. Thats why most games require a core i3 or better on PC which is leaps and bounds above the CPUs in the PS4 and X1

And that still doesn't take into account a lot of things.

Sorry, there is nothing in those links to prove the PS4 is running 60FPS. You're right. The old clip was 30fps. I stand corrected on that part. I been posting destiny information so I have all these links in a folder.

The next alpha starts in 2 days. I am sure Digital Foundry will blast through it. I really don't see a downgrade hitting the PS4 version because people have been playing the private alpha for all month. The guy who illegally showed the alpha footage had it at 60fps. My bet would be the same.

Where did you see that is was supposed to be 40+?

I guess phrased as aiming and pushing stable high frame rate but I can't honestly say I am not sure what version they were talking about last year or not. I think they just said xbox.
