Joystiq: “More identical” on the PC and PS4; Xbox not sharp.

Another comparison has been made between“Battlefield 4” on next-generation consoles and the recently-released PC version. According to a report byJoystiq on Oct. 30, the PS4 and Xbox One iterations hold but well graphically with several issues compared to the first-person shooter running on a powerful personal computer.

The PS4 version of “Battlefield 4” looked the most similar to the PC copy. However, it still suffers from pop-in issues where objects occasionally take a few seconds to load. The multiplayer portion that was shown off was also plagued by the “CE-34878-0” error code, which is apparently a problem related to the online connection.

“Battlefield 4”on the Xbox One did not look as sharp as the other two versions due to its native 720p rendering. As a result, the visuals lack the anti-aliasing effects, making objects appeared to have jagged edges at long distances. Both next-generation consoles iteratios ran at a consistent 60 frames per second although the Xbox One is also plagued by some lighting issues.

Overall, Joystiq believed that the first-person shooter looked “nearly identical” on the PC and PS4 while the Xbox One version did not look as sharp. “Battlefield 4,” which is now available for the PC, will be released for the PS4 on Nov. 15 in addition to the Xbox One on Nov. 22. Comparison videos looked the same to me with MAYBE subtle differences. I'll judge for myself when it's released.

What settings were they running the PC version on?

xbox one is weak hardware, we know this.

Running at 1440p on PC, the game would have 2.5x as many pixels as the PS4's 900p version, so they're nowhere close to identical. In fact, the PS4 version would be unplayable in this state, and utterly vomit-inducing to look at.

PS4 = 900p at High settings. Compromising resolution for better effects

Xbone= 720p at medium? settings compromising resolution to achieve better framerate.

PC=1080p+, Ultra, 60fps+ No compromises.

I have a PC so I'll be going with the full uncut version of the game. PC remains superior for multiplats but we already knew this. PS4 is the way to go for multiplats if you are console only . Xbone if you love their exclussives and want all the extra functions it has. But we already new this.

Maybe not necessarily payed out but they also don't want to piss them off either and get blacklisted. More than likely though some money changed hands even if it were disguised as advertisement payments.

Yeah, the PC version on Ultra is far better, especially at 1080p or above...

That is true, you can also sit 100 meters further but i heard rumors that at 30 meters your resolution becomes 4k so i suggest to any X1 owner do that instead. Why would you sit 100 meter away from your tv anyway? I think that's too far.

you know, normally i would defend pc's shit because it IS the superior platform but you're soooo wrong about BF4. You're not gonna achieve 1080p/Ultra with steady 60fps+ so don't bring the pc advantage without mentioning the extremely high end rig (mostly SLI) you'll need to achieve this.

You need 770GTX or better for that because the 7970 or 680GTX can't do that,those GPU are an extreme minority on PC extreme meaning less than 2%.

Post a PC pic at ultra and the ps4 pic of the same place.

Dude, you can easily do it these days. And PC gaming incorporates low end, mid end, and high end PCs.

you have any proof for that? because i own a rig and i've seen BF4 benchies and know it goes... BF4 is hungry as fk and 60fps at Ultra is--------good luck is all i can say. Im talking about a stable 60fps here, not drops to 35fps all over the place and goes back to 60 when you're inside a building where there's nothing to render.

We don't have fraps running for fps, don't know his rig (could be a three way SLI with 780's) and this is single player... who the F cares about how singleplayer runs? a 770 dips below 50fps so gl building something that is cheap and runs the game at your 1080p/ultra/60fps+

You need GPU that cost twice of what the PS4 cost to pull 1440 at 60 FPS on Ultra,the PS4 is $100 less than the xbox one and runs 900p with faster frames better graphics and AO on.

I don't care since the PS4 cost less than a mid range PC,unlike the xbox one which cost more and deliver worse graphics and performance to.

Two HD7950(1200MHz) do more than just "1440p, 60fps, Ultra" on BF4 and cost less than a PS4.

@tormentos. We'll see on the 12tg when the Xbox One review embargo ends. Don't forget, games nowadays aren't complete at pressing. Most have a day one update or patch.

The difference in pixels between 1080p and 900p is bigger than between 900p and 720p.

dude i'm playing the game right now on ultra at a solid 60fps. Maybe those are single player benchmarks. In multiplayer on my 7950 OC to 1100 MHz i'm getting a rock solid 55 to 60fps with everything turned up and 4xMAA the occasional dip to 50.
