Do you... understand companies run businesses on pragmatic, hard money concern, and not bullshit idealistic dispute-grudges held over two decades?

Well, if the statement of "Nintendo not adapting to the times" is true.

What?

Or, in other words "stuck in the past"?

It's more of a basic traditional console, but a gen behind which is why me and millions of other dont want it. Had the wii eww actually have been next gen, more ppl would have been interested because it would have been a true step into the upcoming gen, but it wasn't. Also, it would have better dev support

'Gimmich.' Lol

The Wii sold because of Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Party, and other games casuals wanted.

The 3DS sold because of Mario and Pokemon and Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter.

The DS sold because of Nintendogs and Brain Age.

The PS3, for all its power, sold like absolute shit until it had Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, Killzone, inFamous, Ratchet and Clank.

Do you realize the common theme you asinine, insufferable fool? It's fucking games. No one gives two shits about hardware.

Hope they flop and go third party on consoles. It would be better for everyone really.

If it was better for everyone, one company and one company name wouldn't be in the s***hole they are in right now.

That one company and its name is in the shithole because its management did not handle the transition properly, which, in turn, happened because they had no money and so had to be bought out by another company, a soulless corporate drone, which led them to their current predicament.

Nintendo is not Sega. If Nintendo were to go third party, it would not be like Sega. Stop trying to point to one to paint anything about the other.

Always with the "Ninty is not SEGA" excuse. It doesn't matter if they are not alike, Char. It would end up the death of them even if they had the money (which they would lose if they didn't move on). The audiences Nintendo has aren't with the other systems, even those who have more than one system will more then likely ignore Nintendo's offerings for everything else. Quality may not decrease, but popularity will.

Besides, it's not just SEGA. Atari, even in-name only (it doesn't matter if it was Infogrames, they LEGALLY used the Atari name) became irrelevant to most gamers and already was by the time Atari games that didn't have Dragon Ball Z on the box released in the 2000's.

Again, Atari and Sega are similar in that they were the victims of corporate takeovers. Because they had no money. Nintendo has $11 billion in the bank.

The other audiences will ignore Nintendo's offerings? You have absolutely no proof. Most of Nintendo's core audience will continue to buy Nintendo games no matter what system the games appeared on (because, guess what? Nintendo's games are system movers. This means people don't care what system they play the games on, they just want to play the games). Lapsed Nintendo gamers might even begin to look into checking some Nintendo games out in that scenario (people who can't be arsed to pay $300 to play the new Mario and Zelda would definitely look into it if it was available on a system they already own). People who haven't played Nintendo games ever would be more inclined to check said games out.

Nintendo going third party is a pipedream, but it would not spell any sort of disaster or irrelevance for the company. That assertion makes absolutely no sense.

Your ignorance and ass pulling is hilarious. Atari had $5_ billion and going until Tramil focused to much money on the Jaguar and then CUT OFF the handheld, 2600/7800, and computers to FOCUS on it. They lost that in 4 years. Wii U is more expensive and harder to manage. $11 billion means nothing in an era where a million dollars means crap anymore.

At least you are as dumb as the SEGA fans that think Nintendo will die going third-party in .5 seconds.

Links. You have no links. Just numbers that you are pulling out of your ass again. Per usual.

  • Atari lost $500 million in the great video game crash of 1983
  • Tramiel purchased Atari for $240 million
  • Atari gained some money in holdings in the mid 1990s after a series of lawsuits
  • The failure of Jaguar and Lynx meant that when Hasbro and Infrogames purchased Atari, they purchased it for $5 million

The maximum valuation of Atari once it went third party was $5 million. The maximum valuation it ever had was the $110 million Warner Bros bought it for (Tramiel's $240 million being promissory, non hard stock).

Come back with facts again. Kthnxbai

You have no valid source Your quoting Wikipedia.

You are a terrible despicable piece of shit as per usual.

You have no computer sales in your invalid source so there is still a gap you have not covered as per usual.

You have no source for the Lynx being a commerical failure when it's dead easy to find old articles of it making money and the fact the Lynx II was a big issue as well.

And the buy-out to hasbro then inforgrames was during 1998. Atari had $5 billion in 1992 and lost it in 1996 that's 4 years.

Please provide actual links that leas to SOURCES before you pull more shit out your ass charizard, it might make you look less than a little fanboy desperate for attention.

Nintendo is fine. It's financially healthier than Sony. Chances are they'll either focus on handheld, or just make another home console (they actually have the resources to "try again", unlike Sony). Sony has been making losses for the past five years and it didn't die, Nintendo on the other hand actually made quite a bit of profit in 2013. However, it's pretty amusing that Nintendo is currently making more money from Wii than Wii U.

Wii U's strategy was not flawed in essence. Just like 3DS it could have sold extremely well, if it had the legion of games supporting its weak hardware. However, that's easier said than done since the home console market is dominated by multiplats, not exclusives - a grave contrast to the handheld market.

Probably a lot. Nintendo is not just being criticized for being backwards on their hardware, Char. They are also making business decisions that keep the "NintenDOOM" nonsense building every passing day. When you brought up the "times have changed" comment over the possibility of Sony and Nintendo working together again, that is where I felt that comment was necessary.

The PS2 won over the GCN and Xbox. Both of them were significantly more powerful than the PS2.

The PS1 won over N64 and Saturn. Both of them were significantly more powerful.

The SNES won over the TurboGrafx-16. It was significantly more powerful.

The NES won over the Master System. It was significantly more powerful.

These systems won because they had the games, not the hardware.

Get that through your empty skull, and then maybe it won't be so fucking empty anymore.

Pragmatic, or not. You know it's not getting them on good terms with much of anything with the Wii U right now. Explain all the complaints of the graphics and the online being weak.

I'm just saying that even if Nintendo "not getting with the times" comments are true, then I don't see them bothering working with the monsters they inadvertently created.

Like my earlier comment, Nintendo won't change anything. They are going to push for 2014 games, the wii-u will catch on a bit more and everyone moves on. Its clear that there's a hunger for a new console and games for the system. Every new release injects some sort of excitement, however I think November and December will be the months that the momentum the Wii-U so badly needed.

I think its very strange however how flawless Nintendo rolled out the 3DS's recover but can't seem to do the same for the WIi-U. I would challenge what they have said about development times of games.

The 3DS had backing from the rest of the industry. The Wii U doesn't.

The PlayStation 3 was never in such a bad position. The only other system that was in such a bad place was Saturn. Guess where Saturn ended up.

The PS3 was selling horribly and even with the 600 price tag, Sony was losing with every console sold. How in the world is that not similar to the Wii-Us (if not worse) position. The ps3 didn't start gaining momentum until almost 2 years of release.

The 3DS was also a sinking ship, Nintendo released a very convincing montage of fantastic games within 6 month period. Third parties then joined the band-wagon after it started to sell well.

Nintendo has used the 3DS as an example of what they want to do with the Wii-U.

And they still can. I don't want to hear this business about "third party blah blah blah" because things always change every generation in sales trends so if third party titles are going to be vastly different on PS4, Xbox One and PC this generation, who's to say if they sale well on all those platforms?

I do, because if push comes to shove Nintendo will want to sell the most amount of games that they can especially in light of losing the hardware revenue stream, so a two and a half decade old grudge match won't have any meaning for them then.

It's the equal of you writing in a Sega page that they invented the Igloo with no source as a way to debate that Sega Invented something. If you want to prove a point you need a source. You are also talking about a time of it being third-party which was NOT subject to the discussion. Before it was brought Atari had $5 billion, as I had a date of period when the Jaguar was beng focused on to the other divisions cut off, which in no way would be AFTER Atari became third-party.

Please continue to switch goal posts and change subjects to make yourself feel better. I just really like how your source is just words typed on a Wiki with no source. I can't even find it buy coping and pasting the exact words on multiple engines and finding no articles that say it.

Here's an extra source. Notice how at the top (if you see this before it's edited) that this page says you died in an Igloo. Which means you are not really here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igloo (<Clearly says you died in an igloo with no source, but because it's a wiki link it's true.)

Notice that because I have a link to a bunch of words with no source to those words, which means according to you, it's 100% true.

Let me blow your mind for a second, Colecovison and the 5200 are third gen consoles! *gasp!* and they were widely considered third gen consoles! *Gasp*, and the NES would not exist without the Colecovision whatsoever in anyway! *Gasp*!

Well that was easy.

Anyway, the launches of the X1 and PS4 are all on hype despite their launches being just as bad if not more so in some areas, than the Wii U, and will most likely gain enough steam to get out of its current situation.

It's not like back in the day where a new competitor is going to jump in with original games, it's to expensive to do now, this is why most new consoles coming out this holiday run android games on the TV, and systems like the Ouya are clearly failing, so that market will just buy a Wii u anyway. Iwata still needs to put more effort though, he needs to understand.

This holiday every kid will want a PS4. It's in demand right now.

I have a hunch that Steam will do better than Wii:U...
Well certainly in the HARDWARE and GAMES department... granted.

Wii:U is struggling against 360, PS3... let alone X1 and PS4.
At least Sony and Microsoft take risks to make better games and hardware, even when they are making losses.

lol @ people with the Wii:U who watch and wish they had better hardware and games like on X1, PS4 and PC (or even 360 and PS3)

You were the centre of it all here on System Wars. Talk about backfire.

It was there the moment it was released and was a dismal failure.

The annoucement of the superior X1 and PS4 was pretty much the finishing blow of the Wii:U

Nintendo makers can admit to the Wii:U suffering, you cant.

I was making threads for the Wii U, yes. There was no hype, genius.

The Wii U sticky was a bust. There was no excitement about it. No one cared.

Nintendo makers can care to the Wii U's failure, but I can't? Your reading comprehension needs a lot of work. Go through my posting history. Or you know what, I'll make it easier for you. Read my posts in this thread.

You were making threads and steam rolling the Wii:U...

You still are. Your marketing skills need more work.

Sony doesnt have small budget IPs that sell tens of millions of copies. Nintendo should never even come close to losing money, if they do then something is wrong.

I dont think that Nintendo's biggest problems in the console race are fixable.

Nintendo's problems are fixable.

They have bad relations with 3rd parties, and they are oblivious to market trends.

Both could be changed with different management whether that come from replacing all the people who are there, or those people simply getting slapped back into reality.

Yeah, I should have stopped on the first page, why I spent three pages doing that is beyond me.

Clearly Nintendo is lost. They sold a billion Wii's to a casual audience, but that backfired on them, because instead of building a new customer base, they alienated their fan base and they lost the entire Wii customer base because those people dont give a shit about buying a new console. They nearly screwed up with the 3DS. That first year was dreadful, but somehow through shear luck, they managed to save it from certain death. The 3DS is very successful now, but i think it will peak a lot faster and they will need to move into a new handheld system very soon. I love the Wii U, but i really dont think it will recover like the 3DS. People just lost interest because no games were released for a long time, and the few quality games that did come out, like Pikmin 3 and Windwalker HD are just kind of old re-runs of a former generation. The new Mario looks great, of course, but it is a extension of a popular 3DS game, so maybe the franchise is getting long in the tooth, plus the lack of a modern online feature is a drag too. Que in HD Wii Sports ( without online chat features) and Wii Fit U, everything just seems like more of the same damn thing. Then on top of a hum drum line up, the lack of third party support, the lackluster e-shop offerings, and the primitive hardware specific account registration dont help matters. I bet Smash Bros, Donkey Kong and Mario Kart 8 Will carry the Wii U though 2014 and then you will see a long drought for games until the swan song Zelda U. Then its over.

I still think that even if Nintendo does not improve this holiday, the Wii U will still recover somewhat with the release of Smash bros, and Mario Kart, and will at least be able to be a GC style success. I don't think they will exit the console market if the Wii U doesn't recover. Nintendo still has at least one console gen left before even considering leaving the console market.
