Are people going to pretend they cared about this game when they weren’t talking about it in the first place πŸ˜„

@SolidGame_basic: One of the members on here has spent years learning and sharing his games on the platform and created a couple of threads this year.πŸ™„

Anyways, I remember being lectured that this was a game changer years ago but they didn't listen. It also sucks that folks who spent time making games on this locked platform would not be able to export thier games to PC or any other platforms.

Gosh that's quicker than Nintendo cut support for the Wii U.

Just port it to Switch, Xbox and PC, open up cross play and then leave the servers on and let people create magnificent games and share them.

That sucks for all the people playing. They waited for the entire generation of the PS4 to get the game just for the actual released game to end support three years later. They should port this game to PC it will thrive there.

I wonder what is next for Media Molecule. They are Sony's "Nintendo-like" developer for making games to compete with Nintendo back in the 7th gen when the Wii was at the height of its popularity, and Sony was trying to get some of the Wii's audience with games like LittleBigPlanet and LBP Racer. The LittleBigPlanet franchise drastically dropped in relevancy after the PS3 generation and serves as launch title filler for PS4 and PS5. Tearaway also flopped.

One thing I'll give Sony/Media Molecule credit here is that Dreams lasted longer than MS Project Spark and MS killed that way faster before it even could get popular thus I was upset how MS treated it so badly. Dreams did well for lasting longer than it needs to be and it's a shame to see it go but expected as they never released a PS5/PC versions...especially on PC of all places.

The user you speak off is @PAL360 who is the only person making threads on Dreams, and for better or worse, he does care about the game. Always sharing creativity and I'd give him credit for it. SolidGame may not care but PAL360 however did.

I have put over 7k hours on it since the beta lol

Dreams really is something special, the reason why i got into game design, it's a shame Sony didn't have the vision to move it further. It could have went from making it integrated part of PS5 UI or the much requested PC version with exportation, monetization, etc. Anything could have made it a success.

It will not grow from this point, but won't face a sudden dead either. This server migration is to guarantee that the social aspects of it (create/play/share) will work without Media Molecule supervision. There will still be curation and streams from Mm, but there won't be events like dreamscom or impys, major upgrades, PS5 and PSVR2 support, etc anymore.

As for me, i'll finish my current game, Protoland, and then move on to a different engine. I love pixelart, so something in the lines of Game Maker 2 or Godot seems perfect for a next step.

Three years is so short to pull the plug on a type of game like this. It was an interesting concept but total flop- I think the biggest problem with this was that most of us want to PLAY games not dedicate time in learning HOW to make them properly.

Hopefully this means Media Molecule can focus on making LBP4 now...

@davillain: Lol, can you at least pretend to not be so biased... Gotta bring Xbox into it somehow πŸ˜’

Anyway, unfortunate for those who enjoyed it. Maybe if it had more cutscenes, Sony would've supported it more.

@hrt_rulz01: What's the matter? Can't talk about Project Spark & Dreams at the same time? And I never brought up Xbox anyway. Try to re-read my post please😁

That's what happens when you tie your software to a console platform 🀷

Let's not pretend to be surprised.

Aw shucks, that's a darn shame. At least they aren't ending online just yet and it will continue after September but no updates. I will continue to mine that game's community levels as much as I can. There are a lot of amateur levels that just aren't fun that you have to wade through sometimes but I really enjoyed my time with it, just like the LBP games. It is astounding what players can make in that game. Some of those horror levels really gave me the scares.
