Poll Is the Dual Shock 4 the most comfortable controller to hold of all time? (90 votes)

Yes, it feels fabulous in my hand so comfortable 34%
No, the Xbox one crampy triggers feels better in my hand 44%
No, I like the switch pro controller better 9%
No, a past controller still feels better than it 12%

Just the way it feels in my hands feels fantastic and my play sessions are short enough where I don't' run out of battery and just plug it back in and its full power again and I'm ready to game.

The 360 controller had a horrible feeling d-pad the dual shock 4 feels comfortable on every front for me

To hold in the hands? Yes.

But I still like the button placement of the 360 controllers.

Wow what a shit post with a shit poll by a shit poster. The DS4 is better than the DS3 but it's far from the most comfortable. The X1 controllers are still the most comfortable for normal men.

I can't picture a better design. Not fanboying because last gen the 360 was much more comfortable than the DS3. DS4 is pretty much perfect in design, unless you wanna complain about battery life, which really is a non issue.

Last gen the 360 clearly won, but sony sure fixed all problems with the DS and now it mostly comes down to analog stick positioning preference really.

I think it feels fine on average and for specific games, but it has many problems. I'm pretty it was mainly designed for FPS in mind, but that it my least favorite function for it. The L2 and R2 triggers are terrible, and have a gross squishy throw to them. I want a shorter throw for more precise input. The touchpad is basically useless, so is the lightbar (unless you have VR, and the speaker is barely utilized. But my critique would be the battery. Now I understand there are ways to mitigate the problem, but I'm sick of people excepting a poor product because they've found a way to sidestep the problem. I have 2 so I can swap them out as need, but being able to drain a charge from only watching Netflix for one night is ridiculous. I used to get 3-4 days out my DS3 easily, and that was after the same amount of Netflix and a few hours of gaming a night. If all those features I mentioned earlier are to blame, then it clearly isn't worth the trade-off.

On ergonomics alone it's fine (minus the L2 and R2) but it also has some serious problems.

But I've also gotten a chance to try a SCUF or "pro" controller, so I don't know if they're any better.

It's leagues behind the standard Xbox one controller, and a multitude of leagues behind the elite. The thumb sticks being next to each feels wierd, the spongy triggers....aren't triggers, battery life is awful, the trackpad is pointless, the rumble is inferior and don't get me started about the stupid light.

But It's the best controller Sony have ever produced.

PlayStation always had the best controllers. PS4 controller is the best.

And LOL at you people complaining about battery life. Just leave it plugged in like I do. Cord not long enough? Buy a $1 USB extension cord. Have an animal or kid that might trip? Guess what? The cord breaks away easy.

You literally have no excuse to complain about the battery. I have PS3/PS4/360/Xbone controllers all plugged in to my consoles and have never had to wait to charge batteries or use AA batteries for that matter.

Yes it's very comfortable to hold, for the 5 minutes of battery life it has.

It terms of controllers, it's up there. It's definitely an improvement from the DS3 in terms of ergonomics, but they just ruined the battery life of it. The DS3 would last at least 5 times as long. The Xbox 360 controller is also one of the best. I don't know why MS felt they needed to change it with the XBone.

I still prefer arcade panels and kb and mouse for most games though. Pretty much the only games I will play with a pad are action/action rpgs.

Lmao! Funniest thing I've read on here in a loooong time.

XB1 controller sh*ts all over the DS4 in pretty much every way.

I hate the PS4 controller enough that I bought a Cronus Max Plus that lets me use my Xbox One Elite controller on it. I also use that for my PS3 now, since I don't have any PS3 controllers.

If corded is the way to go then they should sell it that way.

I like the Elite Controller the most since I always use it on my PC, I'm personally okay with the DS4 and when it comes to controller, I adapt to it very quickly anyways.

Xbox Elite controller>DS4.

@hrt_rulz01: How? It doesn't even have a simple speaker... Yeah it's nothing fancy, but it's actually really cool in games that use it. Not saying the Xbox One doesn't feel good. It just doesn't have the features, and the sticks are too soft, like the DS3 of last gen. Don't get me started on the batteries (Could MS be any cheaper!! Geez) Glad they finally went Bluetooth though... That 2.4 signal was stupid to use in a controller.

Aside from the OP poll, his thread still stands however. I can safely say that the DS4 is good for fighting games & few 3rd person shooters and the X1X controller is good for FPS games.

If I did I'd prefer the DS4. The X1 controller is not only a more comfortable controller but also isn't using an archaic button/analog stick layout.

@joshrmeyer: What features is it lacking exactly? A little speaker and a touchpad? Meh. I'm good.

And the XB1 thumbsticks are alittle small for my liking, but still better than the DS4. Offset sticks are a must.

And I'd rather have the XB1 battery solution than the 3 hour battery life in the DS4.

I vastly prefer the Xbox One or the Xbox 360 controllers when playing on PC. I'm using my DS4 right now, because I sold my Xbox One along w/ the controller, and it just doesn't feel right.

I actually really like it. It makes for a great PC controller too. The start and select button placement is kind of funky though. Either way, it's a vast improvement over DS3.

My Xbox 360 controllers are starting to break down and the wire on my 7 year old logitech F310 has been too damaged to use as it loses connection from the slightest movements. Anyone here that has used both an Xbox One controller and DS4 on PC? Is the DPAD on the One much better on par with the DS4 DPAD? I play fighting games and I switch between the analog stick and dpad for certain moves. I've played games with the DS4 before but I've never played any withe XO controller, I've only ever been able to feel one in my hands from a kiosk and I'm not sure if its been worn out. The DS4 also has a gyro which you can activate in the Steam controller mapper and use to aim with. While I prefer my Steam controller for shooters when I'm playing on the couch, I still think its neat for the DS4.

@hrt_rulz01: 3hr? Lol com'n man, you know it isn't that.(Maybe the first version of controllers were, I bought it when the new ones came out with better rubber). I don't mind the offset joysticks, but don't understand why you'd want that. Either way though, it takes like 5 minutes to get use to. But yeah, little things like speaker, touchpad(which is really only used as an extra button on most games, which I like), different colored LEDs (which can be annoying to some, but needed for VR and it adds some effects for certain games. Both are good controllers and any real gamer can adjust to either fairly easily so it really is a stupid argument (this thread). I'm glad MS put the headphone jack in the controller now without needing an adapter also. HD vibration like the Switch has for next gen hopefully... Maybe a small LED screen also... Sky's the limit with controllers.

Xbox Elite controller shits on all other controllers by a country mile. I will say I really like the Switch Pro controller though. The DS4 and the Wii U controllers are by far the worse ones.

Both are good, but the ps4s controller is easily better than gen. The analog sticks are better, the dpad is still way better, it has an overall better design and it just feels more durable. The Ones controller feels really cheap which is weird considering the 360s controller felt really solid.

Also the lems in this thread are just making me laugh, dear god get your heads out of your fanboy asses for once it's embarrassing lol.

Yes and It also has the best d-pad. Neither MS (lol) nor Nintendo have managed to get a d-pad half as good as the DS4’s. Battery life is my only problem with the controller but luckily I have many controllers that I charge so it’s not a major issue for me.
