I have a 360 Premium with HDMI.
Its perfect, its really quiet (unlike the old ones, sounded like the Xbox 360 was an airplane hangar) and has given me absolutely no problems.
Whatever store you get it at, get a store warranty so you can easily just replace it instead of waiting 4 months for it to come back.
yes for the love of everything held sacred get the warranty. I hate the waiting game. But I also didnt have the warranty money when I got the system at launch. I only had enough for the system. I waited 2 weeks to get my first game. PGR3. But I will just go buy a new one. Then I'll sell my repaired one to a gamestore.I have a 360 Premium with HDMI.

you are better off getting a premium or an elite. premium if you are mostly going to use your console to play games. the 20gb hd should be sufficient for you for saving games and download contents off xbl. elite if you are going to put media files on your 360 such as movies and music as well.
the newer models of the premium come with hdmi and i hear its more reliable.
i think its a ripoff if you end up buying a core since almost all games requires hd and be wasting your money by buying the hd separately.
i had my 360 since december and only problem i ever had with my 360 was my video card dying. they ended up replacing my video card and they were nice enough to put in the new heat sink as well.

Yeah when I first got mine, they asked if I wanted one (at the time I didn't know the problem was this bad) but I thought about it and was like whatever, its a two year warranty and if a new version came outI could always just BS and say its messed up.
And thats exactly what I did. I just returned it and asked for the HDMI one. Once the Elite gets bumped down to $399 i'll be getting that one too.
The new Zephyr 360s are very reliable--and quiet, too. TrueReligion_
I want to buy one but i dont knowwhat model to get or is it good invesment. Since i been hearing stories it malfuntions will MS ever fix this problem?yuku_2000
ask for the newly shipped premium or core ones (if u like) with hdmi, so u know u will get a more reliable package, the hardware that is diffrent may be random tho, its could have the falcon, the dvd drive and heatsink with hdmi, or it could have just one or just hdmi....but just get warranty from the store for 20 bucks, its worth it, lol.
if you look at the back of your console where the serial number is located you can see when your 360 was manufactured.
mine was built on 5/30/06.
The 360 has a 33% failure rate. You might be unlucky and it might break. Then you send it in the M$ and they refurbish the broken part and send it back in a month or two.AIH_PSP
where did you get the 33% failure rate from?

The rate is starting to drop, I believe it used to be close to 50% or even higher at one point.

Hey this is coming from a hardcore lemming, the launch consoles were horrible. Some had RROD, some scratched discs, and the were all kinds of other things going on. My 360 that was manufactured in august 2006 has been flawless though :).
From my experience with mine!

my HDD broke and then my remote battery thing also broke
guess wat my answer would be
Mine is a launch version. It's loud, freezes occasionally, but still works like a charm. I do not know anyone who has had the red lights yet personally, however, i know many, many people have experienced them through this website. I think the overall design of the console is horrible as it scratches disks when just sitting, which is disgraceful. M$ will not replace the disks for free, which is also pretty suck.
Overall though it's my favourite console out of the 3 because of its wide variety of solid, fun games.
75% of the time its reliable.Hitamaru-homia
Three out of every four gamers' 360s haven't experienced catastrophic failure.

Not necessarily, while unlikely and not a common criticism targeted towards the 360 HDDs do fail without warning or explanation and battery packs are sometimes defective.

battery pack defective...u replace the batteries in the back...lol and hdd is like a laptop hdd, u'd have to drop it or smash it to wreckit , or pull it out when the system is running, which i bet this kid did to wreck is stuffs.
here you go kid...... read carefully, save your self time and skip to the last few pages......those are the most resent one so you'll be able to know which of the SKUs you might want........ I'd personally wait for the Falcon version, but if you want Halo now, then get the HDMI one.....
and you should get the regular Halo version, I've read the other versions have bad cases which cause the discs to scratch.....

No, HDDs do fail due to problems with the drive mechanics..although that is rare.
