Is Returnal the first reason to get a next gen console?

We finally got that 1 reason to own the ps5 or what do you guys think? Just keep waiting or was demon souls your game to get one?

The game looks like 3rd person sci fi diablo 2

everything is randomly generated and you got like great graphics environments and cool enemies there random this thing epic right and its like dead cells you die you lose some gear but keep lots of doors and bosses unlocked.

Would look great with your new samsung tv.

Eh. Interesting little game, but not for me.

Then again, I find it extremely difficult to buy new hardware for just a single game anyway.

This is huge deal when a AAAE comes out like this its needs respect as it could be a killer app and im just wondering if this a reason to get the ps5 or not itt has nothing to do with the reviews or anything is this game killing the switch and pc or not? Is this thing big enough to get a 500 dollar console for is the question here.

We already had plenty of other reasons to own a PS5. So no, this is not the "first" reason, it's yet another reason.

Not really for me personally. I’d say that the first big PS5 game for me was Demon’s Souls.

i feel like the game is not for everyone. nonetheless it seems a great game indeed if your patient enough. as a fun of gitgud games, after i replay bloodborne this is my game to buy.

Good game, but would argue that neither this or demons soul is true system seller as they are simply to niche! Of course with the ps5 continuing to be sold out everywhere, one could argue it doesn’t really need a system seller atm!

I bought a PS4 pro to run games at 60fps too, and there were like two that did.

Sorry but I agree with @Chutebox (for once) that Demon Souls Remake is the logical choice picking up PS5. Returnal isn't even close at all. Maybe Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart but still, it's Demon Souls Remake.

Not really and we do get these kinds of questions whenever next-gen consoles are still new. I do buy next-gen consoles just to play 1 game. It's interesting to see if Returnal does convince anyone to purchasing PS5...if you can find the damn console of course.

Yes. Returnal is the first reason I see that someone might start to think they need a start thinking about getting into the next gen. Until now it has been remakes more or less. Ratchet & Clank is the reason I'm getting a Ps5 (sucks cause once I'm done with that I will likely never play Ps5 again as Sony rarely puts out anything I'm interested in)

On the bright side, gifting my nieces a Ps5 post Ratchet and Clank, sounds like a fine gift! :)

Everything is randomly generated = bland, featureless, soulless level design because the devs couldn't be bothered to put in the effort to create something, but rather have an algorithm do it for them.

I usually have a 3 game rule before I buy hardware. It has to have at least 1 game I HAVE to play, and 2 I want to play. This falls into the "want to play" category, so I still need more content and that "must play" game that makes me bite.

If I had a PS5 I would get this game .. not at launch but when it drops to around $50. It looks fun but having to play it through in one sitting is a huge pain in the butt. Yes I know you can pause the game and come back to it, but what if I want to play something else and then come back to it

So far I have zero reasons to get a new console.

There's already several great PS5 games (last gen ports/cross-gen games aside), but Returnal could be the tipping point for some, sure.

I am loving Outriders, but it is available on PS4 and Xbox One.

60fps standard is, in my opinion. Great games being released this early in the generation is a great bonus, though!

I'm really hoping it comes out for PC. A single game isn't going to tempt me to buy a console...

By the time it comes out on pc, we will be talking about the ps6.
