Or maybe STALKER. But I was just thinking about this. I don't count MW1. Maybe weird games like cryostasis or what was it. But I don't know if that took place in Russia.

Any others?

Both the Metro games and the Stalkers games are actually developed by Ukrainians. Also Stalker is set in Ukraine while Metro is in Russia.

Yeah, Tetris is the quintessential Russian video game. Probably one of the most fun and timeless of all time.

There's a great documentary about it on youtube covering the fight to get licensing rights, console wars and Cold War beurocracy. Surprised a movie hasn't been made about it yet.

Can't think of a better example than the Metro games. They are basically documentaries of modern day Russia. Or how I perceive the country anyway.

No way.... To me it'll always be, Russian Attack" on the NES.

http://img2.game-oldies.com/sites/default/files/packshots/nintendo-nes/rush-n-attack-usa.png

Killing KGB was my business and business was good!

Then I realized it was actually called, Rush N Attack... And the mystique was gone...

Still... Those few weeks where it was Russian Attack was crazy Russian.

I’ll go with yes since it’s the only game based in Russia that I play with Russian audio and subtitles (goes a long way when you have a voice acting cast of native speakers).

Soon as I saw the title I thought of this game, so you are correct.

A minigame from C64's fantastic FGTH back in 85 capitalised on the tail end of the cold war, allowing you play as Gorbachev's detached head with the aim of spitting at Reagans also floating head. That's pretty Russiany I spose.

Depends on what you mean by it.

Metro is very much a stylized romp, though it's much more diverse in geography than probably any other game taking place in Russia. Not full-on Mad Max, but let's say half-way there.

If you want a virtual tour of a backwater industrial Russian town, Tarkov is rather down-to-earth and accurate.
