Poll Is it time for Rayman to go back to 3D? (17 votes)

Yes please 47%
Stick to 2D 53%

Rayman is a video game.

The original title started out as 2D, surpringly, became the best selling PS1 game in the UK. Outselling the likes of Tomb Raider and Gran Turismo.

It quickly made the jump to 3D with Rayman 2, ported to many systems (PS1 being inferior), followed up by Rayman 3.

While Sonic lost his dignity, like heroin riddled prostitute willing to do anything for the next hit, Ubisoft put the main series away. It sat in status. Frozen in time. 8+ years later returning with the poorly selling, but critical darling Rayman Origins. Then a follow up with Rayman: Legend, slightly better selling and also a critical darling.

Should this trend of 2D style platforming continue, or it is time to make a jump to 3D? Or would it end up shit like, more or less all 3D Ubisoft games currently?

I'd say give 3D Rayman another shot.

I'm all for taking risks but legends was so good it would leave a bitter taste to the series if they messed it up.

If people want it, then sure. Personally I'm more of a 2D platformer guy, but I missed the 3D Rayman entries - maybe they are better than I'm imagining

2D with 3D elements like sonic generations might work but the 3D would need to be of generations quality.

I'd be all for a new 3D game so long as they don't stop their 2D games.

In my opinion, all the 2D games are miles better than the 3D games. The graphics in those 2D games.... Wow! The controls... Superb.! The charm....

Would love to see it. I really liked Origins and Legends but Great Escape was really good.

Never liked Rayman but I do want to see a new 3D Donkey Kong. Exploring beautiful tropical islands and forests with HD graphics would be great.

@NathanDrakeSwag:

I'm with you on this, but it's been like 20 years since DK64 - I think I've just about given up hope on ever seeing a 3D DK.

As for Rayman, I'd certainly be interested in 3d game. Tried 3 recently didn't much care for it, but maybe 2 is better? Need to try it out sometime

Heck yeah.

I think Rayman does will in 2 and 3 dimensions.

I'd be in favor of keeping Rayman 2 style of level structure with a central map or hub world if they were to do another 3D title.

The 5 main Rayman games is a pretty solid collection. The first two are classics - great games. While Rayman 3 didn't live up to the bar set by Rayman 2, it was still a decent game. The return to 2D got a great art style and tight controls.
