It really doesnt look that phenomenal to me. Great, but not crazy perfect. Witcher 3 beats it in my eyes.
Great looking game. But not the best. I'm sure PC titles on decent rigs can outdo it.
that what i thought :)
Yes it is. You know Guerrilla Games are geniuses when they can do something that matches even PC games on high settings. They are one of the most talented devs nowadays.
But not on Ultra ;)
well, in any event it sure is one beautiful game. art direction has a lot to do with it as the colors really pop and the environments seem to blend very well with the character models. sometimes games will look technically great but have some aspects that are underwhelming or just simply out of place. games like the original crysis with it's ugly ass indoor areas and mgs4 with it's sometimes terrible texture come to mind. gg really hit the sweet spot for technical achievement, quality art and overall cohesion of the graphics really shines because of the balance between the two.
I have it on Pro and I'd say it looks comparable to some of the Skyrim Mods I've played on PC. It's definitely a valiant contender for console graphics king.
Lol no. It shits all over Skyrim modded to the max.
Maybe, I mean, I guess. Witcher 3 on PC looks better so maybe it wasn't a great comparison. All the same, Horizon does look phenomenal.
Nah. Although it might be had it been released on PC. I think a lot of time went into tweaking everything for the PS4. It's more of an illusion of a good looking game.
....Also it's a little silly to be talking about graphics king when the game struggles to maintain 30fps.
It looks pretty good, i'd say it's up there with the top at the moment. Witcher 3 on PC with ultra settings probably beats it a bit. Personally I feel Crysis 3 graphics are already starting to look dated since the use ove specular highlighting was overused in some parts of that game and to sharp (should be smooth). RE7 also look spretty amazing. I'm glad to see devs step up their game though.
The simple answer is YES. There is no game that has accomplished what this game has done graphically especially for a seamless open world game.
Exclusive PC games don't push the graphical limits and hasn't for a decade. And don't push never to release Star Citizen as some sort of example.
No, but it sure does look good. Guerrilla really knows how to use the GPU resources effectively.
I could declare Guerrilla as the "efficient real-time rendering king".
Hmm I'm going to double check all my settings cause my Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't look as good as it does in the online graphics comparison video's.
So changing settings didn't do much except turning on full RGB. That did help make the game look better. I don't know I'd have to place the games side by side but it does look pretty good.
Very impressive screen shots in OP. All the games look great. Sometimes I'm in awe of how far gaming has come.
right? I used to play Scorched Earth and such. When all those games look that good, I just cannot give a damn about "but look at the AF and AO in this one vs that one"
No, but it looks really really really good. Anyone who isn't impressed with what a 7850 can do with a Jaguar in Horizon is trying way too hard
Kvally
It is not the best looking when compared to PC but it does crush and laughs at everything console wise. Nothing approaches.

Same, can't imagine what we will see in the next 6 years o.0
Parts of Horizon are stunning, other parts (like facial animations) can be pretty rough. You can cherry pick parts from many many games to make an argument which is the best but I think you probably have to have more narrow criteria about which games do what best.
@Pedro: I know a lot more about graphics than you do that's for sure. You've demonstrated time and again your ignorance on the hardware and software side of things.
At least back up your claims before spewing nonsense. Then again I'm speaking to Pedro who legit thinks opinions can be facts lol. Can't say I expect much from you when all you do is post bullshit.

LOL. This is coming from the person who made the claim that resolution can be discernible independent of distance. LMAO. You factually do not know what I know about hardware and software. Unlike you I am in the industry and you are not. You have shared your BS claims thoroughly on the board and pretend to knowledgeable about things that your are ignorant of. But I guess my expertise really adds a damper to your supposed claims. :D
I understand the debate about which console game looks best.
Thats very subjective and some people will prefer Horizon while others prefer another game.
Personally, i think Witcher 3 on both consoles looks better than Horizon. Nothing to do with console power, i think its more about the engine.
That said, even thinking a CONSOLE will look better than a mid-high range PC is ridiculous.

What does that even mean? What are the criteria that are using to validate this claim? Especially when the games is the key demonstrating factor.
