Not sure what to make of this. Anyone with looked closely enough saw that Black wasn't going to be a great game, the developers described it as "gun porn" for goodness sake.
Anyways, Crytek established themselves very well with Far Cry, whose "wolf among sheep and shepards" approach to gameplay impressed a lot of gamers. Plus, the graphics are represent a much bigger leap then Black could ever hope to achieve on dated hardware.
i dont know, but that is my dear. crytek should have stayed with ubi. ea seems to budget cut the quality out of games. ohh well, ut3 should be out soon so there will probably be a ut mod that achievs the potential missed if ea keeps crytek from delivering.

this guy is exactly right. Too many people see the screenshots, but don't bother to read previews or watch the videos for it. The people who think that crysis is just a tech demo for graphics or is just going to be like any other fps, you have no clue what you're talking about. Crysis is not going to be completely linearor repetitive and it won't have stupid ai, like black. Crysis isn't going to dissapoint, these developers know what they're doing.

The difference here being that Crytek is still independent and surely have full creative control over their IP. Otherwise I'm sure they could've found another publisher which agreed to their terms.
So far, all that crysis has to boast about is the powerful graphics. It could look like the best game around, but just how great is it in it's gameplay areas? It could very well head the same way black headed, but that's just a personal opinion. =\
I just bought Black yesterday...not bad for 10 bucks. I'm only on the second mission but it's pretty fun, and I had no idea the Xbox was capable of these graphics...the motion blur/depth of field whatever it is when you reload is completely awesome. It seriously looks like a 360 game.
Anyway, I'm sure Crysis will be much deeper than Black is, as Black is simply a shoot-everything-that-moves type of game. Crysis seems to have many different gameplay forbidden>Â

EA didn't buy Crytek, they are just publishing the game. They have no say.

Looks like you haven't read any articles or interviews on it. Crysis-online and incrysis.com is all I'm going to say.......
I thought Black was fun. But after awhile it ends up sucking so badly, completely linear and repetitive. I can play FarCry 5 times in a row with a different experience each time.

For a PS2 port. :) Black was a very fun game. You need good sound for the full experience. Agreed. Criterion was able to pull off some of the best graphics last gen. Black still looks good even after playing next gen games. The game would have been a lot better if not so linear, but it's a great game to give your sound system a workout. The gunshots and explosions are very well done. Plus, on the xbox version you can run around blowing everything to hell with your favorite custom soundtrack. Black itself also had a very good soundtrack done by Michael Giacchino.
