There seems to be radio silence around here when it comes to the recently released Rainbow Six Siege.
I've been playing it quite a bit over the last two nights with a group of friends and honestly its the most fun I've had with a multiplayer shooter for quite a while. Everything feels carefully designed and surprisingly balanced, and there is a lot nuance in learning the different classes and how they compliment each other, almost in a TF2-like way.
It helps that the sound design is amazing and the gunplay is a lot of fun. There is a good deal of depth to this game.
Uninformed System Wars Peasant:But It has Microtransactions!
Yes, that is a bit shitty, but everything apart from a handful of weapon skins can be earned using the currency you earn in-game. Even though this sounds F2Pish, the rate at which you earn the in-game currency is very fast, you get a bunch just for watching tutorial videos and playing the 10 SP training scenarios which take a couple hours if you go for the criteria.
The unlock system is also very good: nothing is gated behind levels, you can get anything you want from the outset.
Uninformed System Wars Peasant:Its Too Expensive and Lacks Content!
I felt this way initially, but considering all of the new maps and operators will be released for free, and the game can be had for $40 on GreenManGaming, I feel its well worth it at that price.
Uninformed System Wars Peasant: But Ubisoft!
Yea, that is unfortunate, but they took the time to have a bunch of betas for this and made it right, I think that kind of development should be rewarded, even if Ubisoft was involved.
