Oh and i love his brilliant insight on the WiiU
"The more its advertised the more is sold"
Edit: wrong pic
No. That is stupid logic. Halo sells more than Killzone but Killzone is the far superior game.
The best games are your personal favorite. Too many things effect sales like marketing and whatnot, and reviews are more influenced by hype and popularity than actaul gameplay sometimes.

You'd know all about stupid logic.
What's considered the "best" to one gamer, might be seen as the "worst" to another.
Obviously, not everyone will buy the best-selling video games on the market. Different people have different tastes.

I didn't think he could get any worse, but he keeps on surprising me.SaltyMeatballshe said something quite sensible... If the game really is the best game, it should really sell the most units, and if it doesn't than the industry is really screwed up because we are not supporting the best content...
Great Exclusives don't have a chance of outselling Great multiplats so this is kind of dumb reasoning from this guy. I also think most exclusives are better than multiplats too. Of coarse I know thre are graet multiplats like GTA and skyrim but does uncharted, halo and mario galaxy really have a chance of outselling those probably not
lol :( biggest_loserI don't think my brain knows how to process those two things so close together.
[QUOTE="biggest_loser"] lol :( DarkLink77I don't think my brain knows how to process those two things so close together. Its just a funny truth or tragedy! Merry Xmas to everyone on System Wars by the way!
He should have said, the games that sell the most are the most successful. This is kind of redundant though as games are like art in that the quality is in the eye of the beholder.
Consoles on the other hand aren't always the one that sells the most is the most successful as companies will sell consoles at a loss initially to keep consumer costs down and populate the market. This is a very perilous business strategy that really cost Sony last generation with the PS3. MS and Nintendo both had more successful consoes business wise.
Don't forget to mention those sh*tty *** COD games that sell plenty..No. That is stupid logic. Halo sells more than Killzone but Killzone is the far superior game.

Halo sells more than Killzone but Killzone is the far superior game.ShadowMoses900thats a subjective opinion, Halo offers more content than killzone, better online, Graphically they are on PAr with each other, the only real decider is Art style and Gameplay and those are both subjective depending on peoples personal preference.

Beat ya to it. :P
Gee, here I thought that the heaviest advertised games sold the most (which sadly speaks volumes for us the consumers).
I have nothing against him, but man sometimes he just makes the dumbest things known to man -.-
It is with games like it is with books and movies "The best" can only really be determined in hindsight, after a good deal of years. And like books and movies The best were rarely those who sold the most, or got the most exposure.
Shane Satterfield, Editor in Chief of Gametrailers, said something similar not so long ago, so it seems to be the official stand of Gametrailers.
I don't even like Halo all that much and it's way better than Killzone. You have worse logic than he does.No. That is stupid logic. Halo sells more than Killzone but Killzone is the far superior game.

He isn't right about that. The best games don't sell the most. Like everything else, the most 'popular' product isn't always the best. Does McDonald's have the best burger? Is Call of Duty the best game? Is Transformers the best movie ever? Is Windows the best OS around? The answer to all that is NO. It has more to do with marketing.
You can't possibly all be this retarded.
This thread has taken what he said completely out of context. He didn't say that the games that sell the most are the best, he's saying that the best games SHOULD sell the most, and if they don't, that's a problem for the industry. And that's completely true. He then goes on to say that he's hopeful that TWD winning GOTY will get more people to buy the game and open themselves up to different experiences, so that sales will actually reflect the quality of the content.
Christ.

If that's what he said, then it's equally pointless. There's a reason why marketing strategies exists, and there's a reason why it's so important to splash money into marketing. Always has been, always will be. The reason? An average consumer isn't always informed about his/her purchases, and as such, a consumer relies heavily on hearsay and commercials. It's not just the gaming industry. It goes for all commercial industries.
The best example is to try to ask an average gamer what the best PC graphics card is. How many people here can be bothered to go through benchmarks and rig tests to find out that answer? As such, the card which will sell the most is the one that is advertised the most with the most reasonable price point. And when you think about it, why is PC gaming generally more unpopular than console gaming? Yup, making informed purchasing decisions for hardware is very very daunting. So now, I just can say things like "the best PC hardware SHOULD sell the most." But if I said that, it's utterly pointless, and just shows how much I don't know about the way the world works right?
