For me I think that award goes to PT Trailer. It was so psychological and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Best part was when the women grabs you and you die having no clue what happened lol. And the the suspense of doing it again trying to figure out what to do next. What about you, SW? What was the scariest experience you had while playing a game?

I hate, hate, HATE the regenerators from RE 4. To this day. I dread that part of the game every time I play it.

I would have to say Penumbra or Soma, both are amazing games. I'm not the biggest fan of resident evil action orientated horror, but I do love slow paced psychological horror like silent hill P.T.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the Shadow Temple. That Temple scared the hell out of me and so did Bottom of the Well dealing with the Undead creatures back on N64 when I was still a brat lol.

Scariest huh?

Scared the shit out of me.

When Eternal Darkness screen goes black and tells you *thanks for playing the demo* or it says "please insert controller" when being attacked by monsters .

That scared me.

I don't do scary games too well, to be honest. I got pretty scared while playing Doom 3 while under the influence of something, that was pretty frightening.

When everything goes to shit ala Halflife, it's pretty well done. I like the skull that comes through the tv.

I feel like Condemned fucked me up pretty good when it first came out. Can't remember what exactly but it was definitely an intense game.

Having to play games at 30 fps ( or lower) on PS4.

Truly harrowing.

I really hate scary games. Probably the biggest one I can think of was unsuspectingly meeting the zombies in Thief: the dark project, and getting forced deeper and deeper into their hell for a while.

Playing at 30 FPS haha.

On a more serious note, Forbidden Siren and Fatal Frame scared the crap outta me when I was a kid.

Ghost Recon 2 OG Xbox version. When you get shot, it makes a loud thumping sound that scares the bejesus out of you. It was embarrassing to play online because you might let out a little scream.

Close tie between the first experience with the mannequins in the mall in Condemned: Criminal Origins and the hotel level in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

Many bricks were shit.

Soma. The monsters didn't scare me at all, but the existential concepts it handled did. The questions it raised regarding consciousness and all the events that happen surrounding it (avoiding spoilers) definitely impacted me.

All of REVII in PSVR. Seriously, being VR just made it all the more real to me. I know it's still just a game, but I swear, I could feel things in there.

Agree w/ regenerators in re4. Evil within is probably scariest game ive played overall.

As for specific moment. I was fighting the End ib mgs3 and i was sitting in a vantage point trying to spot him and the bastard snuck up on me.

I'd say RE1, when first launched and played. A particular part when walking down the hallway and the dogs come crashing through the windows.

Also, The suffering, and a particular part while looking at a camera monitor ( or mirror, can't recall ) and see a scary person coming up behind you only to look behind you and he's not there. "shivers" lol

Plenty of stuff but those two come to mind.

Hahahaha! I managed to get through that part, and I am a real scaredy cat. I'm kind of proud I finished RE4 because I can hardly finish any scary game.

Especially scary VR games ... I sometimes scream so loudly we get neighbors from across the street ringing our doorbell.

It was with Silent Hill, I was in a part that has a jump scare, i don't remember which one, what i clearly remember is that a cousin that had already played the game knew that it was coming and scared me at that precise moment.

I actually just played through that game a month ago, and thought it got a lot less scary once you got the flamethrower.

Or if you died repeatedly in an area, the horror lost effect after the 2nd time.

Recently- Resident Evil 7, multiple moments.

Years ago- Resident Evil 2 with Mr.X. Especially when he busted through that wall!

When I was a kid- when Baby Bowser got transformed into huge Bowser in the final boss fight of Yoshi's Island, I went and hid behind the couch.

RE2 when I was a kid. Ten, I believe. When that Mr. X popped out of the wall and proceeded towards the player in the hallway. I found the nearest save and stopped playing for days. Seriously.

Why is a ten-year-old playing RE2? All thanks to older brother, for crying about why he doesn't get to choose a game for mom's income tax money. I chose FF7 to buy, he whined and I gave in to buy RE2. Dude (16) played for two hours and never touched the game again. Someone had to finish it, I mean, what else am I suppose to play?

I think it was Penumbra Black Plague but it might have been amnesia, I just have a recollection of hiding in a room with a monster bashing down the door and being scared shitless
