Is there any debate anymore that a "GamePass" style service is the best way to consume videogames?

I think the problem with Gamepass is that you don't get to pick what games you have access too. I think if I would make a change, they would put every game on Gamepass but you only get to play a certain number in a given month, but which ones you play are up to you. If that were the case, I'd probably upgrade my PC much quicker than my current plan.

Not sure if Twelve Minutes is considered critically acclaimed. That said, the game looks appealing to me.

What subscription models works in the manner you describe?

Yeah Game Pass has most definitely kept me hopping with games. Recently played through Jedi Fallen Order and Code Vein. Really enjoyed both those games. Been playing through Hades, excellent game and Twelve Minutes which is quite compelling where I want to trying all these various things. Am very hyped for Psychonauts 2 to drop in the next couple of days.

As an aside, I'm at the end of the game, and I've loved it. I would love to see Kojima make a modern Snatcher or Policenauts type game.

Twelve Minutes was bleh, but Hades is amazing, and I'm intrigued by Psychonauts. Never played the original, but think it looks cool.

@StrongDeadlift: Gamepass or PsNow subscription services simply guarantees bunch of crappy Software, just look at streaming services like Netflix and others, there’s bunch crap they keep releasing and some of it is ok just because we lowered our standards and the good TV shows movies anime etc. where created before the streaming services became popular, also when you look at games that are most profitable they are free to play, Gamepass or PSNOW is great for indies and older games like from Atari to Sega Dreamcast from PS1-PS4 since new gen started and from original Xbox to Xbox one etc.,

Halo, Forza, gears, flight simulator, yukazu collection, Ori, control, a bunch of great indies basically anything made by Bethesda, wolfenstien, doom, quake, prey, dishonored, fallout, elder scrolls, EA play is included with the sub, BF, mass effect, dead space, star wars, all the sports game. I could keep listing games but I'm probably wasting my time telling you anyway

@sargentd: both PSnow and Gamepass have great games, Gamepass library consists of more newer games, problem with Gamepass will be down the road 3-5 years from now, I doubt Gamepass makes any profit for MS, think about it if the new Halo cost 500 million and that was reported few years back how many subscribers do they need to make even and then how many more to make profit for that game there is a reason why Halo multiplayer will be free to play and why would you subscribe to Gamepass when Halo multiplayer is free to play, MS will most likely fail with Gamepass because they keep throwing money at it with no Game plan, What stops Sony from telling other Developers you sell your software on our Console you have to sign an agreement that you can’t release it on Gamepass for 2 years and have to release it on PS+ first and than on Gamepass, Idk i just don’t like subscription services it quantity over quantity just my opinion

It's certainly the best price in gaming right now for the amount of games and now we're starting to see more and more NEW games which is exciting. But it also certainly isn't free.

Gamepass is awesome, great additions. But when is a 79 considered a critical success?

Funny how Lems hated PSnow, but love gamepass now. Both basically the exact same thing, except one is cheaper and has 6x the amount of games and one is more with less games. I think they even run off the same servers now also. Cows didn't like PSnow, so why would they like gamepass? At least they're being consistent. They are both good services, with each having it's own strengths. Definitely worth the money if you don't mind rentals. As far as price, if you're on xbox and want to play online, it'll cost you $180/year. If you're on PS and want to play online it'll cost as low as $60/year (PS Plus not needed). Huge difference.

PC gamers with gamepass get different games than xbox which is really confusing. But only have to pay $120/year. I still think these sub services are gonna bring game quality down, or force mtx to make up the revenue. But congrats to those with gamepass for getting these games for "free".

As a PS5, Switch, and PC gamer what exactly is on GamePass that I can't play on other platforms? Heck let's say I'm a PS5 only gamer, are there really no games for me to play? There aren't hundreds of exclusives on xbox that's for sure.

I really don't get this GamePass argument as it pertains to System Wars. GamePass isn't a System...it's a service. Does it really matter if I pay more for my games to own them? I have PS Plus, been subscribed for years. Have well over 100 games available for free with my subscription. I also like to own and collect games, physical on PlayStation or on Steam.

If cheap games is all Xbox has going for it....I personally think that's pretty sad. It's like "Our system doesn't sell well, has no exclusives, no new features, but it has really cheap games though!"

Psnow and Gamepass are two versions of the same idea; rent a game. Only difference is one is awful and one is good. Gamepass gets day one 3rd party games as well as 1st party….psnow doesn’t have a single ps5 game that isn’t BC. While Xbox ultimate costs more, that price includes Live, games with gold, eaplay, xcloud, Gamepass, Gamepass for pc and more.

Sure, you can definitely get enjoyment out of psnow…but if you’re going to compare it with Gamepass at least try and be objective.

Right now, Gamepass is absolutely rocking it, while the last thing I heard about psnow was that Sony were apparently working on an answer to Gamepass….just hope that Apple TV subscription wasn’t it.
