IGN Compares Current Gen and Next Gen.

First off, this is in no way a thread about Battlefield 4. I don't think this is necessary to post in the Battlefield 4 sticky. The video happens to be featuring Battlefield 4, but its purpose is to compare systems.

Video comparisons with shitty quality are pointless, and it doesn't show the framerate difference.

But we already know PC > PS4 > Xbone > current gen

I'm aware of this, but SW goes bonkers for these kind of things. Might as well make their day.

Can't wait for the first real crop of next gen looking games to come out... when Devs start flexing their muscles on the new hardware....

Next gen has more detail but won't be a big enough difference to sell the casuals. It's like comparing DVD to Blu-ray. The difference is there, but the average Joe won't notice. Hardcore gamers will obviously want the latest and greatest, but I see the casuals sticking to their PS3 and 360's for now.

Interesting. Both PS4 and Xbox One versions look clearly better than the last gen versions, and this is just the start. There were pleny of examples, but the scene starting 4:14 really stands out.

well.. BF4 isn't exactly a good game to have a start next gen.. being honest it looks quite good for the current gen.. and it doesn't do it justice for the next gen. But if anything you can clearly see a cleaner picture even if it is a youtube video.

this is absolutely pointless because of compression but you wanna know what i noticed the most about this video? Xbone's jaggies are more visible than ps3 AND 360's version. i mean how f*cking sad is that? What are these 8gb of ddr3 doing inside xbone? No AA and 720p so W----T----F?

if i read somewhere the X1 runs at 720p so i doubt there is much diff btwn the 360 and X1

No sane person buys a next-gen console that can only do 720p properly.

I wouldn't call a game running in 720p without any anti-aliasing or ambient occlusion and rgb-problems medium at all.

Effects do make a significant difference to the atmosphere (like the birds) and how powerful the weapons feel (particles etc). Resolution is pretty much irrelevant.

The difference between Xbox 360 and PS3 is pretty much the same as the difference between Xbox one and PS4. The increase in resolution doesn't really make that much of a difference.

The difference between 360/PS3 and Xbox One/PS4 is night and day.

If all the differences in games are this close I'll take Xbox one with the lower resolution and all the extras it brings any days.

By terms of actual features related in game, they are the same and AO has already been confirmed to be in final game. RGB issues has nothing to do with the actual game... both PS4 and XO are running a higher setting FXAA with the PS4 being at a higher resolution.

Someone at IGN needs to hire a person who knows how to properly capture and compress a video before uploading it to YouTube.
