Poll: If you could only play CONSOLE or PC this gen, which would it be? (133 votes)

CONSOLE 26%
PC 74%

I would go with consoles. PCs are vastly overrated. First off, I don't care about having the best specs because consoles have great graphics/performances as it is. Second, I prefer console exclusives a ton more than PC exclusives. The only real exclusives that PC has over consoles are RTS, MMOs, and sim type games. Consoles will always get the big blockbuster titles 95% of the time and each system has its own exclusives too. Also, there are games like Destiny, MGS5 & Final Fantasy that haven't even been announced for console. And what happened to GTA5? Third, consoles are now the home for indies, so PC doesn't even have that either. So overall, I'd go with consoles. You?

I've played on better then a half decent PC and it's still game consoles. It has nothing to do with the power of the systems, but more about the exclusive games that won't be on the PC's. Also the number of friends who will be playing consoles and not PC. So consoles would win every time unless a lot of things changed.

Pokemon is not for PC is it ? neither is TLOU ? neither is GTA 5. Smash bro's isn't coming to PC either, neither is monster hunter, and if rummors are true neither will Demon Souls 2. That's my reasoning for both of those statements you highlighted.

The only Exclusives the PC is missing out on is Nintendos stuff, TLOU and Possibly Gears. The rest have superior multiplatform alternatives.

Both are personal opinions then but the way i see it when a game is successful on the PC and can be ported to console it usually is, just like Xcom and like the Witcher 3 is going to be. But the opposite doesn't usually happen unless it's a third party game.

Firstly, why not counting MMO's? That's like what's coming out on PS4, action adventures don't count.

As for what's coming to PC, here's a thread @Cloud_imperium made just over a month ago.

I would have to go with Console for reasons specific to my situation. My PC is a 32-bit Windows 7 machine that is owned by my employer. I'm not supposed to upgrade it, though I have upgraded from the onboard GPU. I'm pretty limited in my hardware choices...e.g. I'm limited to 4 GB RAM due to the OS and I'm hesitant to upgrade the stock PSU (300 watt) required for a more potent GPU (currently an Asus E-Series GTX 650 2 GB). I could upgrade to a GTX 750, but that wouldn't give me a huge bump from my current GPU.

Bottom line, I'm not going to be able to play a lot of the games that come out over the next 5 years whereas with a console I'm guaranteed to be able to play anything that is released for a given platform.

My gaming habit has tailed off recently, especially with the change in weather. I'll be on the golf course more than in my living room for the next 5 months. Besides, I can't justify dropping $900+ (USD) to build a capable gaming PC.

There was game a while back for pc that I wanted to play, I think it was called Project Eternity. But from the indy side that's really it.

PC by far. That's should be an easy decision for anybody who plays games regularly.

If you want to stick with the consoles, even if you had all 3, you're willingly limiting the amount of games that you can play by a huge amount. Why would anybody who enjoys gaming do that?

I understand preferring to play on a TV with a controller, but you can do that on a PC if you really want and you're still going to have a much larger library of games to play.

It's not unreasonable if gaming is your only, or your main, hobby. Between work, the gym, home maintenance/improvements, golf, my wife, etc; I barely have enough time to give my PS3 catalog the attention it deserves.

Id take PC over all consoles from this gen and last gen combined. I bought a WiiU for the missis but I never use it. PC gaming just offers so much more than consoles and thats even more true with todays consoles, at least for me. Iv always had a good PC and always a console or two, or three from every gen. But this time, I have absolutely no interest in buying another console, not for myself anyway.

BTW: PC always wins these polls, EVERY time.

There are a few games that don't hit the PC right away or at all, but in general for every 1 game that doesn't hit the PC there are dozens that never hit the consoles. Unlike a lot of people around here, I don't need some high budget title to find fun in a video game. Most the games that hit the PC are crap, but when there are so many hitting each month odds always favor 1-2 being pretty damn good games in their respective genres.

There is also a difference between the types of games on the PC and the consoles. On the PC you can find games with much more replayability and length to them. Owning a game like Mount and Blade, while it may not be up to the level of quality of GTA V, can provided far more hours of unique gameplay. Games like Civilization and Total War can be replayed dozens of times and rarely feel like they are just the same thing over and over. It's a different level of depth that you rarely find on the console.

I know you may have been joking but you do have a point. Right now GTA V is still not on the PC and future games like Destiny aren't slated for the PC release any time soon, if at all.

However if you like games, there are far more titles on the PC that are going to give you many more hours of gameplay for your money than on the consoles. Console games are good for one and done maybe a replay here or there, a lot of PC games last far longer than that.

For every one console exclusive not on the PC there are probably a dozen or more PC exclusives. Odds are one of them is going to be good and odds are even better that the PC game will have more longevity than a console game.

If we start to look at quality console exclusives the amount of games you're missing out on drops dramatically. Eventually good games do find their way onto the PC in some form or another, just like good PC games find their way onto the consoles/tablets given enough time.

I guess It's different for someone who has had a PC pretty much constantly since I started gaming. I'll admit PC has one hell of a backlog but the recent exclusives coming down the pipeline have been largely forgettable and are just not of the same quality.

There's a lot of fodder in the marketplace for PC, especially on the kick starter front, steam Greenlight. A serious lack of polish on many titles.

Granted Consoles have their fair share of shovelware also, but I generally find there to be a higher quality to what is allowed on them.

Tough. PC is best for multiplats, which are most of my favourite games, plus amazing exclusives like Civ.

But Nintendo and Sony's 1st party is both excellent, to the point of being unmissable, so is Halo (though the rest of MS first party has collapsed), and what about Rockstar, Platinum Destiny, MGS V and other console multiplats...

I think I'd pick consoles honestly, though I'm glad I have the option of all. Except the XONE obviously.
