Because that son of a bitch is HOT... literally!

A group of French gamers via LeStream have been relating their experience with the XSX, and they all come to the same conclusion... this thing will replace your home's space heater.

Full quote : "I don't know if we can talk about this but, we have the Series X here and the Series X is hot, it is hot. It makes 0 noise but on the other hand it gives off heat, it's violent. I mean it's violent... yeah, yeah it's violent. You can warm up thanks to the Series X, clearly. From a sound point of view it's good but from a heat point of view, it's something."

Other one adds : "It will send out air, a small air diffuser."

Interesting note : "yeah, we're not allowed to show new generation games, disappointing."

The Beastcast has also talked about how hot it gets, and it also makes the expansion unit almost too hot to the touch... even in standby mode. Timestamped for your convenience.

Apparently Microsoft wants to bring the heat to gamers, and then melt them all in a nefarious plot.

Actual footage of an Xbox Series X being used for too long
Actual footage of an Xbox Series X being used for too long

Now, that being said. Is that the reason that MS isn't allowing new games to be previewed on the console, because it'll go from 0 to jet engine in noise when it's really being taxed? The plot thickens.

Also if I recall correctly someone who got a preview access of the xbox series x mentions the expansion storage gets really toasty. Might want to let it cool down first and not do a hot swap.

I'd rather have noise than heat... noise isn't going to reduce the consoles lifespan. I'm sure a simple firmware update can adjust the fan speed for better cooling if needed.

Not worried. My One X gets hot and puts off quite a bit of heat. But it’s quiet and has yet to over heat.

I would wager PS5 gets hotter. Their is a difference between real world settings (MS putting their system in users hands for a couple weeks) letting them review the console and a staged controlled environment setting where you pay people to rave about your system where you don’t show anything.

@BlackShirt20: Why would you think the PS5 would get hotter? It's using smartshift. It only runs at full clock speed when needed. Xbox runs at full clock speed all the time. I guess we'll see.

My fat PS3 was like that, it could warm up my game room a few degrees after playing for awhile. I'd imagine its better for that heat to be out then in, dont ya think?

It does help to explain why the PS5 is so big, it's all cooling. It appears Sony have gone for reducing temps while MS have compromised for the sake of the form factor. Neither is right or wrong, though a console with less overhead on temperature is more likely to experience reliability concerns.

Looks like it'll be an expensive heater, good luck Lems. Looks like Sony will have the more reliable machine as they designed for cooling. Will get the hot SeX when problems are worked out.

Xbox heat? Pah! My PC GPU can hit 83c playing MS Flight Sim 2020. I can feel the heat coming out of the case and it can heat the room up a little more on some days. Nothing different here.

Yeah that's not what i read, it was say not only that the PS5 is quite but also that it doesn't run super hot.

By the way it was tested on Astro and Godfall which are not last gen games or backward compatibility, the series X running next gen games should be even hotter.

Why isn't the xbox allow reviewer to play next gen games and confine them to BC if MS is so open.🤣🤣🤣

Have all sites claim the xbox series X doesn't generate any heat?

Where is the series S and why isn't on hands as well?

Winter is coming...and the best part, XSX owners will be pleased to know they're new next-gen console can also be a nice heater machine. My PC expels lots of heat and hey, it makes a good heater for the winter ;)

Kinda surprised TBH, because it has the appearance of a better cooling design. However, it's quite compact - the components facing each other in a tube will share a lot of heat in there.

The quality of XSX build is based on PC case and as such, this was to be expected it'll expose a lot of heat but at the same time, MS knew this and needed a much better cooling system. MS did the right thing this time around.

WTF?

Thats lol worthy considering you have a 2010 join date and Giant Bomb was by created Jeff Gerstmann which use to review games here before he open the site in 2011 and which had its fair chair of controversy for honestly calling trash a game that was TRASH.

So either you are lying or been under a rock by the way Giant Bomb is owned by the same owners of THIS site.🤣

There goes your credibility questioning flying out the window.

Powerful than PS5, yes but the real question is, does it have quality of exclusive games to play? "If" the answer is no, than powerful of a console means nothing.

No, the power advantage means that multiplatform games will look and run best on that console. Multiplatform titles make up the vast majority of each consoles library.

If the power difference between the consoles and the way the same game looks and runs on different consoles didn't matter, Digital Foundry wouldn't exist. Hell, why would a person spend so much money on a PC if power didn't matter?

I'm talking about exclusives vs power mind you. The Switch isn't on the powerhouse but it has quality exclusives to back it up. Now you tell me what's important, power or quality exclusives games and lets not forget exclusives is the reason why we the gamers buy consoles in the first place.

@goldenelementxl: Don't worry Super Sonic, I was throwing Nintendo into the convo because I value a console with the top of the line exclusives to play on it, not Multiplats since you already know I have a gaming PC for that. I too will not get a PS5 until Sony stops supporting PS4 cross-plat and it looks like I'm not really missing much on PS5. Miles Morales coming to PS4, works in my favors :)

I wouldn't be surprised if both next gen consoles ran hotter than previous gens.

But, I'll say this ... having an external storage device that plugs into the console isn't the greatest idea. It'll get real hot and there's almost nothing cooling it. It should have been an internal slot.

To think that lems were here screaming about the ps5 cooling. Looks like they should be worrying about their own system of choice
