If the MGS remake rumor is true, would you want a faithful remake or significant changes?

What a waste if their new studios talents.

They really only have a history defined by porting. Doing a remake doesn't appear in their DNA. An MGS re-release would need significant changes to stay relevant, otherwise this ruse of two decades of MGS praise explodes in their face when people start admitting they can't see the emperor's invisible clothes.

Mooaaar remakes eh? What ever happen to, we don't buy new consoles to play old games? :P

I'd say keep the good, update the outdated, make it play like a modern game while still feeling like the classic. Best of both worlds.

make it from over the shoulder third person prespective. top down or fixed camera would not work today.

But Solid snake is a man. you cant make MGS remake and making meryl a playable character.

I consider the first to be the only good one so as close to the original would be good. That said, I probably won't bother with it.

I don't really think it needs a remake. It's fine the way it is and still holds up well even today.

The last time they tried to remake it it didnt go well. The cutscenes were horribly butchered and the superb music that set the tone for the whole game was gutted and replaced with uninspired rock and roll trash.

The edge-of-your-seat vibe and immersiveness was utterly destroyed. I have a feeling if they try to remake it again it will end up as just another dead end uninspired turd of a game.

Make QoL updates and changes much like how the recent Resident Evil remakes did. Update the controls, get rid of awful fixed camera angles.

Keep everything faithful to the original but with an over-the-shoulder camera. Tone down that corny crap from twin snakes and Kojma’s other MGS games.

Well significant changes wouldn’t automatically make it bad but I say play it safe and keep it as faithful to the original as possible.

If it plays exactly like MGS1 I'll probably pass. If it was a hybrid of 1 and 2/3 then I'd be interested. Or they could completely redo the gameplay

There needs to be full remakes of Metal Gear 1 & 2 first. Story wise, they're more important to the Metal Gear canon than MGS.

The gameplay needs to be overhauled. It feels very dated.

I also think that Metal Gear 1 and 2 should be remade first.

@lamprey263: LOL wtf are you babbling on and on about?!? MGS is a classic, a PS5 level graphical refresh with it's fantastic classic gameplay is all it would need.

Demons Souls was a great choice for a remake because the gameplay is pretty timeless... they only had to make it pretty and handle well. MGS while a classic... will need some more input to bring the gameplay up to modern times.

I'd want a remake with the gameplay of MGS4, the enhancements of Twin Snakes, and the voices and cutscene direction of the original.

Has anyone even played the original MGS or even Twin Snakes recently? I did a playthrough just a couple months ago. The gameplay isn't dated at all. It's not a first person shooter, sure, but it doesn't need to be. They can easy preserve the feel of gameplay, keep the same story, better cutscenes, same map and boss fights, and just tweak the controls themselves a little and it'd be golden.

Seeing what Capcom was able to do with Resident Evil 2 Remake, I would like to Konami do the same with a MGS remake. The original is a masterpiece, but it came out in 1998 and it is not a good game, anymore.

Keep it exactly the same except using the Fox Engine with all respective game mechanic changes. No more top down, a free camera, but keep the cinematics a carbon copy of the original.

Improve controls and camera, but also make the enemy soldiers more competent to make up for the better camera, how blind they were in MGS, would feel really off in a remake. Especially if they got rid of the top down camera. Adjust "encounters" so that each room is still possible to sneak past.

Would love to see a remake by ND.
