How long did it take for 360 to hit the 8 million mark?.. Wasnt it like a year and 3 months after it released. If memory serves me correctly didnt 360 hit the 8 million mark just back in Feb of this year?! PS3 is right now right around the 6.5 million mark, if it continues to sell good in Japan and Europe and can move another 600,000 here in the US by the end of the year, I can def see it hitting 8 million by years end.ChristopherM80
I'm assuming you got that 6.5 million figure from Vgchartz.
If so, then according to to vgcharts, the 360 hit 8 million the second week of december 06. That's 1 year and 2 weeks.
I am gonna predict the out come of this thread.
360 is gonna end up selling faster then the PS3 in its first year and then someone will say "but 360 had no competition at the time."
Selling 1.5 million units in 25 days.. Hm let me think, no.Erebyssial
Funny thing is Nintendo sells 1.8 million wiis per month.

Funny thing is, Nintendo is outselling Microsoft approximately 2:1 and Sony approximately 4:1. So, um, yeah. Not gonna happen.
The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are basically in a special Olympics race in terms of sales. Playstation 3 will probably be at around 7-8 million by the end of the year. Xbox 360 should be around 15 million.
The Wii is running circles around them, it's going to be at 16-17 million by the end of this year.
I already said how many, Xbox 360 sold 7,190,927 systems in it's first year.

I think they shipped more though, that should bethe amount sold to consumers right?

Yea, the shipped more, but this is how many sold. :)
I am stupefied and awed at how well Nintendo is doing this generation. They are completely obliterating the competition with their factories going at full THROTTLE and still not being able to meet demands for their Wiis. I applaud Nintendo for such unconventional success. Oh, and on a sidenote, I don't like the Wii very much, aside from its lackluster library but top-notch first party titles (which are far and away between each other in terms of release frequency).Brainhunter
I really don't believe that Nintendo's factories are going full throttle. In a year, Nintendo would have been able to hugely expand production capacity, but they have not done so. I think they are artificially limiting supply to breed excitement, and it's working.
Same thing with ff XIII. They are keeping any info from the public so as to drive consumers crazy. Likewise with Harry Potter. It's called retromarketing.

I don't think they are doing it to keep exitement alive they don't need to do that. I think they are doing it to make only a certain amount of profit each quarter. Doesn't everyone find it funny that Wii was selling nearly 500k units a monthand was always sold out now that dec. is here they some how manage to sale 350k units in one week?
