And how is NASA supposed to be immersed in their job when the controller doesn't support Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers?

Playstation is for the mainstream, actual scientists actually have better things to do than playing Playstation.

Imagine getting drift or some random disconnect on a crucial mission. 😂

I remember a story a while back of the Navy using 360 controllers also (on my phone will try & look it up later)i think it was to do with the use of their telescopes.

Oh and why would they use Sony's controllers, they work longer shifts than what Sony's controllers last, imagine them twiddling their thumbs while the controllers on charge 🤣🤣🤣

The mentality is that the military didn't see a need to design their own proprietary hardware when they could easily utilize existing hardware that a good amount of people already knew how to use. Smart.

Might be because Xbox's XController library is openly available for everyone to use and adapt, whereas DualShocks still need third-party apps to get full compatibility. Also, swappable batteries might be another factor; to maintain workflow instead of having to recharge the controller and/or buy another controller.

Fun fact: NASA's entire cumulative budget from the day it was founded to present is less than half of what the US spends on its military in one year. They went to the moon with that. Money well spent.

The military and NASA have both used Sony and MS products. Guess who used Nintendo's stuff?

Correct. The US military, gov, and quasi-gov agencies use the Xbox controller because it's easily adaptable to PC programs and is a very familiar format for 'Private Snuffy' to use, having grown up with the Xbox 360, presumably.

Army EOD uses the Xbox controller for their bomb disposal robots as well, for another example.

edit: People should be happy about this. Back in the 1950's or 60's NASA spent millions inventing the ballpoint pin in order to "be able to write in space". The Soviets just took a pencil.

The New Horizons spacecraft that took a picture of Pluto was sent out in 1997 and used the same processor as the Playstation 1.

Meanwhile back on Earth, I can't play Ori anymore because my hand cramps like nobody's business and the analog drift has become so bad on my X1 controller.

Starting to hate the thing....

The new XS controllers have identical ergonomics, right?

This. Nasa is too busy sending toy cars to Mars instead of dealing with this epidemic. For shame.

@regnaston: oh nice... might actually work for me better then (I have smaller hands). I'll probably look into one of those if I can't get the analog to behave on this one. Actually maybe I should anyway

@X_CAPCOM_X: I don't get upset over shitposting and casually pouncing off other users for casual entertainment.

My posts here have become simply reactionary after your haughty response over the low-hanging fruit of shitposting, and I find it quite amusing.
