I play PC games which i never buy, am i a pirate?

I'm playing free games from Epic Store , currently downloaded Prey for free and enjoying it. I get all the free games they offer, i never buy games from Epic Store tho, only visit it for freebies.

Am i some kind of pirate?

I buy from Steam and Microsoft Store only ( But bargain bin gamepass subscriptions, rental only ).

Well, I buy games I never play. My Steam library is full of backlogged shit I buy when on sale, and haven't gotten around to playing.

Personally I don't accept freebies from Epic. I won't even use their launcher. I buy everything, usually, but I do look for good discounts.

For me I always liked Steam features. There's the workshop, the community pages and lets not forget the loyalty discounts:

Steam checks if you already own a game and you could get a remaster for dirt cheap, often free.

I don't want to have my games spread across multiple launchers. I don't mind having EA games on Origin or Ubisoft games on Uplay... But having more launchers for the sake of more launchers? No thanks.

I have only bought like 3 games on EGS yet my library is like around 150 games. With GOG almost the same, only bought like 5 games yet my library has around 80 games. Even on Steam I must be at around 70 free games. Even stuff I hardly use like Origin and Ubisoft Connect have like a dozen free games each.

Lol of course not. I never bought anything on Epic, I just get the free games and while I didn't check I think my Epic library probably surpassed my 15+ years old Steam library in terms of size.

Prey is such an awesome game. It took me completely by surprise. And no, I would say you are an intelligent consumer. I have stopped buying full priced games and am trying to wait until things are greatly reduced.

Borderlands 3 free on EPIC right now btw.

It's pretty crappy, when compared to even Borderlands Pre-Sequel and I didn't really like the pre-sequel. The game was way too easy and the only way to make it challenging is to beat the game (story wasn't very good) so you can play it on a higher difficulty. I've already been through the game and wasn't impressed, I'm not going to spend time replaying a game I didn't enjoy just so it can be a challenge.

Oh well. Life goes on. I guess if anyone has been on the fence about getting the game, getting a free copy off EGS might be the way to go.
