Hello everyone I got a question and need some help.

My question is this I currently have a LED 1080p tv and own a xbox one (bought in 2013) and I was interested in the xbox one x but I was not about to spend $500 on a system. I was talking to my friend who was saying to me that I could return my system where he works and get back full value and I could just put that toward the xbox one x it would only cost me an extra $200.

So do you guys think it is worth it to spend the extra $200 to get the xbox one X

Thank you for any help/advice

@Bigblue: This is the wrong place to ask this question.

EDIT: If you only have to pay $200 then its worth it even with a 1080p tv.

Well trading in your xbox one against an x seems to have zero downsides as you'll get to keep and be able to play all the same games.

I wanna say go for it, with a 4K TV no question, but if you're still on a 1080p TV part of me wants to say that you're halfway to another console for the difference. My advice, get a Switch or a PS4 instead. Don't get me wrong, I love my Scorp, but if I were in your situation and still on an old school TV I'd put my $ elsewhere. On Nov 7 I moved my LaunchBone to the bedroom, 1080p Samsung 9000 series 46", does the job just fine. The X makes a HUGE difference on my LR Samsung UN65JS9000 4K set, but does a "slightly different" bump to the naked eye justify half+ a Switch?.. I don't think so.

Let me say as an owner of the X, even on a 1080p TV games look much better in comparison to the original XB1. If not for the “super sampling” (downscaling from 4K rendering on the X1X enhanced titles), then for the full-rendering of 1080p which didn’t happen on the XB1 on many games due to lack of power. Basically I’m saying it’s not just for 4K TVs.

ALTHOUGH....I’m skeptical about this “return” or trade, which would net you $300. That makes little sense considering people sell OG XB1 used for roughly $150.

1) highly doubt you’ll be able to get full face value for on OG XBO. Hell I received an S (as a gift) for less value than that, and it has slightly better hardware.

2) IF, you were to somehow get the full value for the OGXBO I’d say go for it. I can only assume that you don’t have a PS4.. and if you don’t, you won’t be missing out on too many 3rd parties.

Your friend is lying to you. You won’t get that much back.

I agree with the others... unless your friend is cutting you some kind of non-kosher deal behind his boss's back, you are not getting $300 for an old used OG X1. That's way more than they could sell it for.

I don't know how much you'll actually get for it, but you'll still get bonuses for the X1X on a 1080p TV. It's up to you whether that bump to play the same games is worth 200(unlikely)-375(much more likely). I'd probably do it, but I have a little bit of disposable gaming money for such frivolity

Your friend is either lying or doesn’t know about trade in values of used consoles. No matter where you sell/trade in your console, you’ll never get the full value of what you paid for when trading in a used console.

Probably lucky if you get $80 for an OG Xbone.

So your going to replace a console at 1080p to place it with a more expensive console to play at 1080p?

At least you have those One X games...

Well if your friend can actually get you that kind of deal on your old system then go for it. You’ll never find that kind of deal anywhere else, you’ll get a brand new system, and you’ll still see benefits of the more powerful system.
