Fuckin thing looks huge. You'll need to break out your 90s JNCO's to carry it anywhere. AKA pointless device. And besides, we all know hermits don't leave the house, this will sell 0 units.

goddamnit. use some real thumbsticks. its not like pockets are going to be a problem since that thing already looks like you'd need to keep it in a backpack.

I feel like if Valve just worked on finishing a few trilogies instead of investing in handhelds and controllers, we'd all benefit.

... If their steam controller proves to be successful, hell no.. The gamepad literally hasn't changed since the inception of the dual shock controller.. And it still sucks ass for certain genre of games, if the steam controller does what it promises, then it will benefit every one..

That being said I don't understand the mentality of sticking it in your pocket any more.. If your a adult chances are you already have your cell phone, keys and wallet.. Why the hell would I jam a 3ds or vita in my pocket? I just don't understand the rationale of this any more..

Garbage. Lack of actual thumbsticks alone already makes it a fail to me.

Translation = $999.98 Retail.

I'll pass..

EDIT: Btw, they haven't even released the "Steam Box" yet.. maybe they should pace themselves. You see what happened to Sega.

Plays the majority of Steam games? I doubt it, unless we're talking about the all the indie stuff.

Internal 32 gb card? Again seems so so small for what would be needed to play Steam games, unless of course it is just the indie stuff. Actually, this is all digital, so you're going to have to go get more cards.

If it's playing at a lower resolution it can easily do that for the majority of games.. Very few games out there comparatively require a beefy machine to play.. As for the sd chips, those are extremely cheap to get now..

Because they have the pockets to support it?

I have no problems carrying my keys, my wallet, my cell phone and my 3DS.

I also think putting a video game system in one's pocket is weird. I bring my portable systems with me to school because I have an two hour long commute on the bus, but go in my backpack. Seems like putting something like a 3DS or Vita in one's pocket might damage it.

Yeah or scratch it at the very least. I definitely prefer to have it in a bag/backpack.

I did not see this coming. I am a tad bit interested. Looks way bigger than pocket size. If it has similar streaming capacities to shield, I am interested.

The handheld market is strongest in Japan and with children, two audiences this thing isn't going to reach. This will be a really niche product.

It seems to be the project of one of the teams Valve partnered up with, just like how all the Steam machines are being made by those partners instead of Valve itself. However, this dev decided to try handheld instead.

I see a lot of potential, if it allows me to use my existing Steam library. Hundreds of low hardware requirement games would be playable on launch. While Vita is bragging about a few indie ports, this Steam handheld will allow access to games like FTL, Recettear, Bastion, Transistor, etc. The list of available games is simply too massive.

Valve will be interested as well, since this extra platform opens up a new way for people to be interested in Steam games.

I find it funny how people complain about the size of portable devices and then carry around 10.1" tablets, 17" laptops and 6" cell phones.

The last "pocket sized" portable gaming device was the GBA SP.

As for the Steamboy:

That thing is so fake.

If it is real, then I bet it would be unreasonably expensive. When people buy a portable gaming system now a days, they want exclusive games to come with it.
