That is another game that launched this year, it's an RTS. It's on consoles as well.

It plays a lot like Company of Heroes.

I abandoned PC for Ps4 last year. Can't think of a single exclusive for PC this year that I wanted to play. So I guess it's been pretty mediocre? Like 7/10-ish? Other negatives, besides game drought:

- Store fragmentation, forcing you to download an increasing number of clients.

- Hardware prices remains high? Haven't checked in a while, but the crypto-mining is still an issue?

No, it's done, thank goodness. Cards are actually super cheap now. You can get a really solid card (e.g., 8GB RX580) under $200, and even Vega 64 and 1070s are reasonable now

Interesting. Then I might jump back in despite my cow-ish comments lol. Would love to play Rage, Metro etc with proper controls.

8/10. Probably PCs worst year this gen overall, but was still relatively great as it was only barely beat by 1 system and only due to technicalities.

Disagreed with this opinion. Not a fan of movie games, store fragmentation isn't an issue compared to having to deal with the substantially inferior PSN, and hardware prices are good right now.

So many broken console ports. I hate most indie games. Don't play RTS anymore. MMOs have been lacking. 5/10

I wish. There are way too many games on PC, with way too little time to play them all.

Most multi-plats (aka most video games) were vastly superior on PC this year.

Probably around 6/10. There are some nice exclusives like artifact, frostpunk, a bunch of indies like a hat in time, etc. and as usual all the multiplats are best on pc.

I have a backlog of great games for pc so the lack of killer titles didn't affect me.

If I'm not mistaken the only 2018 releases I have played this year are Into the Breach and Two Point Hospital. So I don't care/10.

My backlog is colossal so no shortage of games to play. in terms of new games out: I didnt actually buy that much for the PC due to the backlog. There are some games i want to get (monster hunter world, the new theme hospital which name escapes me, X4 which seems to be getting a lot more positive feedback compared to X rebirth) but i just havent gotten around to getting them.

Its been a lot of F1 2017 with some tomb raider on the PC front and its ending with a very warhammer theme with both dawn of war 2 (this time i will get it done....maybe :S) and warhammer total war 1 and 2. on the latter front i am playing the smaller campaigns only in warhammer 1 and thats that done. for warhammer 2 itll be the smaller campaigns and 1 run though of the super massive campaign (with the old and new world on the same map). that is going to be a colossal undertaking and i would be surprised if i am even half way through it by this time next year.

on the platform front itself: linux continues to improve as a gaming OS and steam play/proton opens up yet another avenue to make it as easy as possible to get windows games running on linux. it also gives developers who dont want to make a linux version specifically something to test against if they still want to dip their toe in. The 2 games i have tried from the official supported list (doom and the last remanent) run just fine. I will probbaly get Monster hunter world sometime early-ish in the new year as i hear that its also generally in good shape even though its not on the official list yet. Note to self osan0: Finish doom.

downsides: still not every dev supports linux (especially on the AAA space. big shout out to square enix and codemasters and sega/creative assembly for the support.) and still the % share of the user base hasnt gone up so news on that front sounds bad (there was a rapid expansion of user in china on steam which had a negative % usage on the linux and Mac OS stats for example). MSs acquisition of obsidian and inexile also probably means no more games from them on linux :(. crap: note to self osan0: finish POE1 and start POE2.

so yeah overall a good year for me on the PC. No shortage of games to play and buy and no shortage for the foreseeable future.
