Ebay just needs to ban sales of xbox and playstations, and 3000 series video cards for two months and problem

Solved.

Genius idea?

Ebay will never do that. They're making way too much cash on gpu's and consoles.

This is something that will never work. There's a bunch of people that have way too much cash to burn so overpaying $500 is not something they'll even notice.

Buy one, tell the internet what the return address is and send it pizzas they never ordered.

You’re asking eBay to turn down seller fees on $800-$1500+ items?

Good luck with that..

Haha, why the hell would ebay do that?

Solution to scalpers is people being patient.

Follow rumours, plenty of newspapers here have live blogs everyday. A GAME rumour for example was mentioned, was told what time they go live, and had a PS5 bought in one minute.

An item (that you really want) being available for a higher price is better than it not being available at all.

If scalpers operate like businesses they need to be taxed as such. They aren't doing second hand sales when they are doing it organised, in groups and acting like a business :/

If consumers refused to pay inflated prices for goods then the scalpers market would disappear within a month.

@sleepnsurf: cut off the main way scalpers sell, and scalpers move on.

Amazon also needs to stop allowing 3rd party sellers to raise the price far above retail

The obvious solution all along has been to stop online sales and require people to just go to their nearest retailer and pick one up. Problem solved.

Unfortunately having some standards might mean no mean cheap Chinese knockoffs at 1/3 the price.

Can't risk it.

Well you can always buy the new Souljaboy console.

Probably has graphics on the same level as Gameboy, because both consoles are called 'Boy'

There are a lot of 3rd party merchant sites, even if Ebay is one of the biggest.... As others have stated they would never give up the revenue. Someone like Sony would have to offer Ebay a ton of money for them to consider this.

I always thought why not use a lottery? I guess there is not incentive for the sellers to do more work to sell a thing.

Heard someone was suggesting these companies auction off their own products. At least the scalpers would be on a level playing field in terms of price which might drive the average sale price down. I'm sure they would still use bots to their advantage somehow tho.

Nvidia will always sell in bulk to miners. That market is probably bigger than gaming at this point......

@heavymetalman77: not a single store where I am is closed. I can walk in micro center, Walmart, Target etc. Don't see the issue.
