Just don't pay scalper prices.
This is something that will never work. There's a bunch of people that have way too much cash to burn so overpaying $500 is not something they'll even notice.
Follow rumours, plenty of newspapers here have live blogs everyday. A GAME rumour for example was mentioned, was told what time they go live, and had a PS5 bought in one minute.

Go back to school, not how things work.
The obvious solution all along has been to stop online sales and require people to just go to their nearest retailer and pick one up. Problem solved.
Unfortunately having some standards might mean no mean cheap Chinese knockoffs at 1/3 the price.
Can't risk it.
@regnaston: i saw a similar post in reddit wherein consumers from india are reporting ps5 re-sellers online for being overprice.
Here's a novel thought...
Practice Individual Responsibility.
Sheesh, didn't need to spell this out to folks 50 years ago. lol :P
There are a lot of 3rd party merchant sites, even if Ebay is one of the biggest.... As others have stated they would never give up the revenue. Someone like Sony would have to offer Ebay a ton of money for them to consider this.
I always thought why not use a lottery? I guess there is not incentive for the sellers to do more work to sell a thing.
Heard someone was suggesting these companies auction off their own products. At least the scalpers would be on a level playing field in terms of price which might drive the average sale price down. I'm sure they would still use bots to their advantage somehow tho.
Nvidia will always sell in bulk to miners. That market is probably bigger than gaming at this point......
