inb4 "BUT THE OXYMORON"

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/25/how-the-modders-conquered-skyrim

"The greatest secret of the Glorious PC Master Race is that shh - most games on PC and games on consoles are basically the same, whether you're herding it along with a keyboard or a games controller. But the PC modding communities for games like Skyrim are the exception to that rule: talented individuals (or teams) working long hours to create all manner of extra content and gameplay tweaks, while console players must wait like Dickens characters for their next serving of official DLC. The PC is an immeasurably better place to play Skyrim than on console, and its modding community is why.

The jump-off for Skyrim's legions of modders is the Creation Kit - a suite of world-building tools that let players and would-be designers play around with the game's toybox of items, characters and dungeons. The Creation Kit is free to download (as are its equivalents for other Bethesda games) and very powerful: depending on your skill level you can create anything from simple dungeons to fully-voiced, ten-hour questlines with new animations, weapons, spells and lighting effects. Or, if you're Scott Caunce, you can cover everything in palm trees...

It continues in the article itself. Serious props to Bethesda for being this open this long to mods enhancing their game. Of course, there's always the issue of their games being buggy as a beehive, but at least the mods help with that quite a bit.

I love reading about the creative leads on mod designs. People think what they want and do what they want and share with the community.

So what's your opinion on mods in games like Skyrim and games in general?

Your myopic views of gaming are idiotic and painful to watch most of the time.
Mods have made PC gaming immensely more enjoyable for me, but whatever floats your boat.

Bethesda deserves no praise. There's no excuse for releasing buggy and broken (and incredibly bad) games on 3 platforms, with only one getting support for a mod toolkit that players have to use to fix the game.

you do know that you can still play the original game? I don't get how it would "ruin" it for you. Mods are additions. ONce you're done playing the game, MODS can actually make the game more fun to play after youre done playing the original. MODS are a positive no matter how you look at it. They can enhance and create new games altogether or if you're retarded and thinks all mods are wastes then DON"T play on the modded version and just be happy with the original. MODS = choice.

Modding is more like someone saying "here's the Mona Lisa, and if you want, we can put Rainbow Dash on it if you'd like." You say no, and move on with your life.

Mostly visual or actual additions ex. more tangible things like zebras or whatever?

The ones I can remember are like extra houses/castles (my fav is the instant fortress), extra armor pieces/sets (have around 2 dozen of these), some facial/hair textures for character creation, 99 skills per lvl, Lydia facelift, Mjoll facelift. I have a lot of mods from nexus and steam workshop.

What's so nice about Skyrim is how easy it is to mod (I'm guessing on that one) and how easy it is to dl mods with Nexus Mod Manager and Steam Workshop, everything is pretty much auto install which is nice for people like myself who suck at individually installing mods.

Can beardmits really blame R* for not bringing GTA V to PC? They spent all that time creating a beautiful immersive representation of Southern California only to have it destroyed by horny neckbeards and their nude pony mods.

You can remove mods, but like I said the immersion is gone forever, which means the damage is done

BlessedChill

Again, are you 12? Immersion gone forever? Because why, you say so? There are mods for literally everything from controllers to whole expansions. The immersion is not "gone". You are a baffoon if you say otherwise. Yup, I'm telling you your opinion is wrong and garbage. Someone has to.

Why do you keep replying to him considering you say he's an idiot? Why "waste" your time.

Because its "my" time. Why do you care what I choose to do with it? Is this some plea for me to "stop"? Lol, you can continue if you want but I will let you know now it's not gonna affect my actions sir.

And all of those mods ruin the game for me

IMO once you try out a mod, you ruin the gaming immersion forever

Are you sure? Skyrim vanilla is so F*cking ugly, it breaks immersion when I'm playing other games. It gives me nightmare.
