How old are you, SW? How long have you been coming to Gamespot?

Mid 40's. There are people online now younger than my account here.

Old enough to not take this place seriously (I have plenty thinking I do lol) and I started coming here about a month before I actually signed up in 2015.

I find it hilarious when a certain poster says i'm an alt, but can never name it LOL.

Coming here consistently is probably 10 or so years. My acct is from '04, I think.

Edit: '03, the year before I moved to Canada.

Edit 2: I'm 33, and forgot to include that lol.

I made an account back in 2009 but I was a lurker back in 2005 or 06 (when the hype for the 360, PS3 and the Nintendo "Revolution" were big).

Basically I remember: Twinblade105, ThugPikachu, Yo-foo, and the Twilight Princess 8.8 aftermath (among other odd moments).

37. Been visiting GS as long as it's been around. Think I started posting on the site in 2003? Honestly can't remember, wanna say it was around the time GS and GF merged.

But I didn't start posting on SW til late 2004. Was directed here after the Doom 3 flop, wanted to fvck with hermits, but mods didn't want me shitting up the other boards. Actually felt insulted being told to post here haha.

Lots of fun times though. Nothing will ever be like SW was, gen 6 through mid-gen 7. The traffic this place got was insane, and some of the personalities were just over the top. And while some of the rules were definitely too strict, it made for some very clever trolling. Shit actually took effort. And baiting another user into a meltdown, which typically lead to an eventual suspension, or even a ban? Priceless.

This place was truly a game in itself.

I've been coming to Gamspot for 2 years by now. It's funny because it doesn't feel like 2 years since I made my account.

Way too young old

34yrs and I was a lurker here on Gamespot around 2011, and I didn't sign up right away due to Collage I was attending and when I was done, I finally made an account in 2014 October I think. I knew what System Wars was all about so I wasn't a complete stranger but we were still using 500 post rules before GS ditch it in late 2015. I got to OT and SW the most and sometimes I go to Games Discussion for safe heaven place to talk about games itself. That said, Gamespot is my only gaming site home and I stop going to IGN when I join Gamespot. System Wars nowadays is a shadow of it's former self and this place used to be so active, it was hard to keep up with new threads and getting too many notifications was the best parts. But not anymore.

I started following GS since 2001 I miss the days of On The Spot 2001-2007 was the prime of this site. But I didn't join until 2017 I was on GiantBomb for many years but that place went downhill.

34 and too damn long. This is actually my 2nd account after I made a new name. I forgot those credentials a long time ago, but it was something like Slyfox that I had used for a few years beforehand... which was actually a random generated name given to me from an email I signed up for years ago that I tweaked a little bit.. lol.

After I got my nickname in the USMC I created this account. For those that care, an Iraqi general (converted to sergeant major of the IIF and one of the founding members) told me that my wit surpassed the wisdom of 100 great men after I intercepted a signal and we found the largest stash of weapons in Fallujah to that point in time. People started calling me Wit and I made this account as a play on words in homage to that event.

I've been coming here since the site was one of the best and loved it during the height of the groups (I really miss the Candid Collectors Union ((CCU) it had. It isn't what it once was, but it also isn't as bad as it was a small handful of years ago, so hopefully that's a good sign. To this day this is really one of the only game sites I post on other than some facebook groups... old habits die hard huh? lol

For those that have been around long enough you probably already know, but I'm pretty sure the Konami code on the front page (if done with arrow keys and letters on your keyboard) still takes you to the Contra page. Just an old fun little easter egg. The last time I checked was a year or two ago and it still worked.. not sure now though.. The more you know, right?

I am closer to 60 than I am to 50.

I was a lurker here for a few years before I joined in 2007. This is my one and only account and I created it because I had an RROD question about my 360.

20-24. I've always known of Gamespot but have only actively been using the forums since Feb 2018 when I created an account.

@i_p_daily: They accused me of being your alt. I have no idea how they even came to this conclusion.

Was it the tormented one who accused you? as he is obsessed with trying to find my alt even though i tell him to ask the mods to check my account he doesn't believe me, but i must admit his confusion makes me laugh.

@ConanTheStoner: Yes. Alt, MS/Xbox hater, cow, etc. Pretty much everything. Although back then there was actually moderation and SWs had real game info as a much higher % of all posts. Now SWs is pure garbage where you have to wade through endless BS just to find something useful about games.

I am currently 44 years old, but will be 45 this March. I have been a regular forum user of GameSpot since December 2007, even though Ifirst knew of the site in 2001.

I'm 34, and I'm very surprised most people are around my age. Most of the time when i read this forum, everyone is trying to attack people that like a different console or they get really angry if their console is doing worse in sales. Some people here act like they are the paid PR employees of these companies.

So i have always assumed everyone here was either a kid or a teenager.

Its kind of disappointing its not the case. Lets hope the ones bickering are the teenagers then. And the grown ups are looking to be slightly amused.

I’m 31. Joined during my high school years. I really enjoy reading post on system wars because for the most part this is where I think the most passionate people are about video games. There also is some degree of intellect as well if you want your viewpoint and opinions to hold any weight.

Yeah. it appears that there are very less 20 yo kids. and most of them are in 30s.

guess these kids mostly follow social media or facebook. there was a time when forums were full of teenagers.

Boy, gamespot seems to lack a lot of young people. I also think that's due to young people not gaming that much on PCs or consoles anymore.

I see most of us are in our early 30's. 33 here. I been coming here since the 90's. Going to videogames.com (now takes you to GB wow lol) at school lol. My friends thought i was a casual but i used to tell them its GameSpot! This site went down the toilet like around 2007. Not just the Jeff getting fired thing, but back then i got perma ban for calling someone a noob. That's how bad the mods were back then banning people left and right. These days the forums are a ghost town compared to the golden years...

It was never called gamecenter.com. That was CNET's site. There was gamespot.com and videogamespot/videogames.com. The original site started back in 1996 and was a separate entity not affiliated with CNET, CBS or any other bullshit. Happypuppy.com was the other big game site where I used to download demos.

@BassMan: But I remember visiting gamecenter for my gaming news when sometime in very late 90s (think it was 98-99) when gamecenter started to take me to gamespot. In any case, gamespot sure is not what it used to be. How can I forget the God awful download speed of the Demos on our 56k modem. Thanks for clarifying mate.

Joined in 05 but lost my account. I enjoyed the unions back in the day and how much more active all the boards were back in the day.

Then the change happened in website design and I like most people left. I came back in 2013 and here ever since. I am 26 now.

yeah but you see when we were playing the popular games out there, we were still visiting forums.

I guess forums are just 'outdated' now and people talk about games on social media instead of forums.
