Big man rich was saying the hardrives are an issue on compatibility?
Seems to be a pain in the ass even more than PC.
Thoughts?
is that true?
Consoles more of a pain in the ass than PC, i thought PC was more complicated?
I dont understand why Sony is being so weird with storage right now. Internal SSD slot is still disabled. Can only play and store PS5 games on the built in storage. Cant even store PS5 games externally. If you need room you have to delete and redownload.
Meanwhile on the Series X I can play and store any game I want to from the internal or external storage card. Dont have a USB SSD to see if that works too.
I don't think I've ever had a problem with storage on any device. At most it's something like "oh not enough space. I'll just delete this game/thing that I haven't used in ages."
It's an individual issue (or not) because if one has good internet with no data limits then they don't need to hoard games on the drive.
Definitely sucks for those with shitty internet. My internet is decent and there's hardly any games at the moment so not an issue for me. I wonder how it will be with the later games in the PS5's life cycle and the size of those games. Appreciate the time stamp. Why is he using wi-fi though? Wired!
I got 206 games on my XSX right now, with the internal and the expansion SSD and my 4TB Seagate external HDD, and I still have 3.2TB to spare.
Its odd that it's taking this long to sort out.
I had a quick look around and BSD has support for PCIE m.2 drives already (has had it for quite a while). maybe its a PCI-E 4 thing specifically? maybe sony forgot to actually wire the M.2 slot up on the mobo :P. just speculating.
at the very least they should have PS5 backups to an external HDD sorted though. i mean thats just copying files over, maybe with some encryption. the PS3 (and i presume the PS4) could do that. hell i think the vita could do it over wifi.

good internet doesnt mean shit if psn doesnt give you good speeds, I have 1gbit line and psn wouldnt even max out 100mbit

Weird. Just checked a download the other day and it was capping at around just over 500mbit for me on PSN.
I need more storage for the series x but not paying £215 for it hopefully they’ll allow others to make them
Unless you're someone who has to have 20 games on harddrive at all times (trying to play 20 games at once sounds a bit on the ADHD side lol), it's enough storage.
No games is the issue. :P
They should use VITA memory cards for this. That'll show'em!

I guess i got ADHD then, hell my PS5 has always had 50+ games installed between the external 2 TB and the 1TB internal.
Between my MP ,SP, and arcade/indie games it builds up fast. Even with the external I still have to go thru and uninstall stuff from time to time to put newer stuff on it.
I always like to have a variety of stuff already installed because when i want to play I want to play. If i decide i want to play a game i had put off for a rainy sunday, the last thing i feel like doing is waiting thru an install and every update. Especially MP games like MCC, COD, Forza, like those games i just keep installed on my PC/PS, i am not going to keep installing and uninstalling those for when i decide to play.
I don't know why he complains about the PS5 so goddamn much but still he would rather play on it that his XSX because the PS5 "just feeeels next gen"... what a tool.

i do the same thing. i have a mix of games. from racing to rpg and a bit of og rail shooters. depends on what mode i am in.
@Random_Matt: That's not the issue. You can't get 2tb on ps5 if you wanted to....reason for that is Sony not providing a 1st party drive, and haven't certified any 3rd party drives. Worse still, Sony won't allow you to store ps5 games on external drives, nor even game saves which forces you to pay to store game saves via the cloud.
Not having a solution day one isn't good....not having one 3 months after launch is unjustifiable.
PS5 games are installed and kept on my console storage. PS4 games are installed on my 1tb extended storage HDD. Some exceptions apply (Division 2 and Control, for example, load much faster from internal storage).
Sony fannies solution for this problem is to play less games. That makes sense especially when there is so little to play.😎
yeah man, this whole " nobody needs more than 5 games installed at a time" sounds like a blatant excuse for inept unfinished hardware.

External SSD for PS4 games is the same as if they were on internal, the super fast ones.

yeah it just depends on the closest psn server, sadly you cannot swap where you want to download from like in steam

Same. I got by just fine w/ 500gb on my PS4. That stated, I have sympathy for those w/ data caps.
