How much of a dent on PS5's success would the lack of 1440p monitor/tv support be?

@rzxv04: how many people are buying consoles to plug into monitors? Also how does Xbox series S 720p-1080p look upscaled to 1440p?

Similarly, how does Xbox series x 1080p UI look stretched to 4k? Do you buy into all MS PR nonsense?

Yes, those users will be stuck with 1080 upscaled to 1440, just like with current gen consoles and last gen consoles. I did that for a while too before I got my television. It's not that bad.

Wait, why would you want to do this? If it were me, I'd rather upscale 1080 to 1440 than downscale 4K with lower framerates and settings to 1440.

Probably nothing, but it triggers me so much. I am stressed out. I really don't want to spend an additional $100 for the mClassic just to be able to play at the native 1440p of my monitor on the ps5.

For the last two weeks, its my most researched thing about the ps5, and i have seen so many people on the forums and elsewhere that want it to be supported as well because they're using their monitors on consoles just like me. Its fuckedup not supporting it. It was bad enough on the PS4Pro, but now that you're offering 60fps, which will limit the games to 1440p, it makes no sense to not support it knowing most everyone will play at 60fps. Even 120fps makes much less sense on a tv than a monitor.

I thought we did this already? Maybe I'm just going mad. But my opinion is: "negligible" because there aren't mass market 1440p tvs and I doubt more that a tiny fraction of console users game on a monitor (unless you're a rad Dreamcast VGA fanatic like me :-P)

Negligible. Anyone interested in this kind of stuff would buy a real gaming machine like PC.

Really 1440p is important for games like Demon's Souls. Imagine playing this at 4K and low fraps. Just a response too late would make or kill the whole speedrun.

For other non-compettive games, not as much.

Yeah, negligible. I usually hook my consoles up to a gaming monitor, but it's definitely not a widespread thing.

More for mad lads and competitive players, which make up a very small portion of gamers, especially so on consoles.
