How much are you willing to pay for game subs in a year?

I try to put off until there's a special, MS is really good for it, I swear it's like every 2 weeks with them. The amount of times I just pay $1 of GP/Gold for the month is ridiculous, otherwise I'll do it monthly and swap services constantly. I will admit I have been taking advantage of free PS+ with 10 minute emails.

$0 - for online play. I refuse to pay ransom for my game's multiplayer.

I subscribe to Xbox Live Gold and Nintendo Switch Online mainly just for the multiplayer but the monthly games are certainly a nice bonus. XBLG costs $70 here in Canada so I guess I fall in the $51 - $100 range. Other then that I don’t plan on subscribing to any other services because I prefer to get my games on physical formats to own and play at my choosing.

Y’all are nuts. I’ve never seen a group of “hardcore” enthusiasts bitch about spending money on their hobby like this. That’s like a car enthusiast refusing to pay for gas or tags and title on a car.

Unlike video games, if you don't take care of your car then eventually it is going to run down or burn out of gas, rendering it non-functional. If you are a car owner then it would be your obligation to take care of it if you plan to keep using it. You don't have to maintain your video games to keep playing them. They will always be there even if you neglected them for a year.

Anyways, I pay exactly $0 for video game subscriptions. I see no point in paying more money to continue to play a video game I already bought. If a video game insists I keep paying money just to play it then perhaps I am looking at the wrong video games.

But that's not a good analogy, when you buy a car you own the car. You can choose to drive it, sell it, or let is sit in your garage. Just because the dealership goes out of business they can't come and take your car.

With these streaming services you don't own anything. If they company goes under or decides to shut down the service there goes your games

No more than $50. Fortunately I spend far less that that, if anything in a year for videogames because of Microsoft rewards.

I paid once for online on the PS4 and ... almost never played multiplayer games outside of DarkSouls and Bloodborne so I never renew.

I also never played the free rental games

Nothing. I paid for Nintendo online (that family thingy with others, so that I only paid like 5 bucks). But Nintendos online doesn't even work. Their biggest games like Smash and Mario Maker 2 suffers from severe lag, so I don't see the point in paying for a broken service.

I'm willing to pay the $60 requirement for PS Plus. I generally wait till I see it on sale for $40 and pick up a year at that time adding it.

I'm not going to bother with other subs. At least not yet. No single developer has a large enough library of games that I find interesting enough to warrant a sub to them.
