It depends. Some games are so bad that after five minutes I want to kill myself, and some games are hard to judge until the action starts to pick up.famicommander

Yea i agree with this, sometimes u cant tell if a game is bad by playing for an hour or so but other times u can tell by just looking at the boxart :lol:. With games like FEAR and Assassins Creed it took me a few hours b4 i discovered how overrated, boring and repetitive they wer.

The longest it took me to get into were games like Suikoden III, Morrowind, Metroid Prime, and Skies of Arcadia. I think with RPG's you have to expect things are going to ramp up.

Suikoden III didn't get interesting until like more than 4 hours in when you find your village on fire and your family is dead (I know cliche, but still didn't see it coming). And Morrowind it took me like 7 hours until I could actually kill shop keepers and doing fun things lol. For Metroid it was when I first got the anti-gravity suit for water, don't know how many hours it tooki for that. Just made me realize that the game still had tricks up it sleeve. And Skies of Arcadia's story took off right after the first 'dongeon esque' area when Raknim the wale attacks your ship and you meet Drakma, which is about 2 hours or more into the game.

Sometimes its about 10 minutes, but then other times ill like a game (Dark sector) and then about 1/2 way through ill just begin to hate it.

Usually within a hour of time, but that not always the case, I didnt like MGS3 right away, but after playing it for a while, it stuck. I enjoyed it after that.

Maybe thats my problem, because I just couldn't bring myself to go far in Zelda, maybe its cus I judge too quickly.

Oh ya, definitely. Zelda takes a little bit to get going.

After the first mission usually. Which usually takes around 20 mins. Though if I dont like it i will try to keep playng just in case.

I like pretty much all the games i buy though.

Ya, I totally agree. Once I see the THQ symbol load up I'm pretty much done with that one. :P

i know before i buy it it has to have certain qualitys

2)blood

3)language

4)violence

and if it is made by nintendo then i already don't like it.

Not long..15-20 minutes. By that point, I'll either drop the game completely, or proceed to finish it after a few sessions (I only play one singleplayer game at a time, so I'll usually finish a game off pretty quickly.)Velocitas8

Kara no Kyoukai. "Garden of Sinners" is just the subtitle, so it wasn't pointless :P

It's a 5-part movie series..two of which are out on DVD and fansubbed so far.

Edit: Actually, it's a 7-part movie series, but only the release dates for 5 of them are confirmed so far. Each of them has a completely different director. The first one was awesome, but I didn't like the way the second one was directed. The third hits DVD towards the end of this month if I'm not mistaken.

So far this gen I've been lucky as I'ev enjoyed pretty much everything I've bought, but I did trade in Guitar hero 3 pretty quick, I knew after playing it for a day that I did not enjoy these types of games as I sucked at it really really badly. So I will never buy games like Rockband, Guitar hero ever again, which will save me a nice bit of money.

Depends on the genre.

RPGs usually have long introductions so ill give them 2-3 hours (usually after the first dungeon).

For Puzzle and Fighters, they better impress me on the first 30 minutes.

i can usually tell before playing a game via reviews, screenshots and videos

but if a game still manages to slip through the net, i'll know within an hour

I knew immediatly that I hated Oblivion, like 5 minutes into it. lol.
