How I Think "The Last of Us" Will Play

Seeing as how supplies are low to the point where the remaining survivors have to kill each other for them, it probably wont be an Uncharted with zombies. You can see Ellie in the trailer grateful to find 3 pistol rounds. Maybe a stealth survival horror where bullets are a last resort?

I also dont see Naughty Dog having human antagonists for boss fights. Or you might have the generic bandit gang that doesnt care about survival. But I dont see that happening. Human bosses dont seem very tough when youre dealing with rabid infected mushroom face humans.

Also, theres not much story to tell in a world where the infected have taken over. This doesnt seem like a manmade T-virus with an evil force you have to defeat. The protagonists are probably going to have to travel to some safe haven that is broadcasted on radio or something.

So how I see it is TLOU will be a survival horror where health and ammo is low. You have to sneak past or run from the infected to make it to the next point (car, bus, airplane, other survivors) possibly gathering resources such as ammo and gasoline on the way. The main objective is to make it to a safe haven where a large number of survivors have gathered to rebuild the world or country if the infection isnt worldwide.

Like a cinematic zombie flick.

I will buy it no matter how it plays out.

honestly, I think it will play like a hybrid of Uncharted and Bioshock Infinite (obviously I never played this but I think the mechanics will be built around your companion characters survival in every fight.) oh and highly cinematic.

I keep getting I Am Legend vibes from the trailer. Hopefully it'll be open world like Dead Island, but better.

I expect the core gameplay mechanics to be similar to Uncharted, (I.E. shooting, climbing, melee) just with a different take on them (meaning different animations to highlight the emotions of the character, not just copy pasting Drake animations, etc..). I just hope its more open and not a hallway. StrongDeadlift

They may have done platforming and adventure games in the past, but now they're doing cine-games. They have little reason to change up their winning formula now.

Honestly I don't care how it plays but I'm predicting it would be a slower pace version of Uncharted.

And you could say just as well about the transition from Crash-> Jak or the transition from Jak->Uncharted. Their formulas have changed considerably from series to series, and thus the trend states that it will change again. To completely ignore that is idiocy.hexashadow13

I'm not well versed in ND lore, but I'm pretty sure neither Crash nor Jak series were as widely acclaimed as Uncharted. Hence, winning formula.

Not to mention the trend would require Unkarted before a new IP. :P

Jak, no. You would be right on that. It got pretty close when it comes to media acclaim, but in sales not at all.

Crash. Hell naw. It was definitely more recognized and definitely sold more.

That they went on to Jak despite what they had with Crash shows that they are perfectly willing to try out new ideas and concepts.

Which is what most of their fans are expecting here.

I think it will kind of play like amnesia but in third person and weaponry being a last resort. And yeah, there probably will be stealth.dracolich55

That actually sounds like kind of a dream. Decent exploration in zombie filled areas, and the need to be smart and avoid combat when 3 bullets are like gold.

I want day and night time levels. Where night time they all come out in droves like I am legend. I want more exploaration and avoidance than actual combat. Im sick of just shooting things all the time. Also I don't want the enemies to come like Uncharted's enemies where you're at one end and they're at the other just working your way toward each other.

I want to walk through huge abandoned streets that feel open but have limitations to keep the story moving forward. Just big skyscrapers in ruins with vegetation everywhere. There is nothing wrong with cutting back on combat and action set pieces if we get more emotion and a better atmosphere. and atmosphere is what they have to nail with this game
