How do you prefer your main characters?

In some of the threads here in SW, depending on the topic, someone may point out that some game has a boring character or the character is too derivative and generic. I'm curious to know what type of personality you prefer for most game characters.

I know there are some variables to consider: genre, story, surrounding cast, setting, etc. It's not as simple as saying "he/she has to be tough" because such an attitude will not always fit in every game.

For me, I enjoy personality of almost all kinds, fresh or generic (not always generic though). A character's attitude does not bother me as long as it fits into the game I am playing.

Again, I'm asking how you prefer your main character's attitude. I would also like to ask if there are some personalities you would like to see more often.

I really don't mind all that much, they can have any attitude they want and be as clique or wierd as they want. Sometimes i like that generic in a game, if it has a sense of humour.

As long as they are well voiced and the dialogue is well written then that makes up for lack of orginality.

I'm playing The Sabotuer atm, and i have to say for as clique as the characters are, i like em.

I like main characters that have personality.

I'm a fan of anti-social/darker main characters, like a guy that has a few mental/personality disorders (Schizoid Personality Disorder for example).

I like my characters to either be full of personality or witty and humorous or the strong silent type. No hyperactive bloodthirsty monkeys brandishing chainsaws (see Gears of War) for me.

Yandere

I like my character to not be a female(only i like is Samus), it should be a tough guy like Kratos/War/Snake

female and busty with a bad attitude

Flat-out psychotic, if it all possible, though I'll settle for mentally unstable if I have to.

Ezio is the perfect main charecter for me.

I have personally not really cared about the main character as much as the supporting characters. If I had to though, I would say either a main character who doesn't talk (i.e. Gordon Freeman) or a main character I control completely (i.e. Commander Shephard). I'm not sure if it's just that game developers aren't great at making a main character interesting through an entire game, becauseI love not knowing every single thing about a character (hence why I liked supporting characters). Main characters are often fair too generic, while supporting characters usually have their own unique personality.

I giggled at first. Then I LoL'd big when I got it. Congrats.

I like the charater to be well understood or calm with a sense of been there, done that. Not your usual taste of that but something like Big Boss. Also your type like Nathan Drake. No other way to put it, honestly. Its just him as a likeable character and voice acter.

I like a character with some attitude, fights for the people, and isn't perfect(handsome/pretty) that has a humorous side to him/her. (ex. Sonic, Jak/Daxter, Niko Bellic)

For darker games - I want my main character to be funny(one of my selling points) in a dark world and knows how to lighten the mood even in the face of armageddon (Baird, Drake, and Luis Lopez)

Depends on the game. If the game is super over the top actiony, then I don't want a melodramatic, super serious kind of character.

However if the games more story oriented, I want a flawed but powerful hero. I.E. someone with extradinary abilities, but whose personality holds him back, or something along those lines.
