Dear Hitman fans,

We wanted to share this open letter with all of you out there eagerly awaiting more news about what’s happening next in the franchise.

At Io-Interactive right now, we are building the next AAA Hitman game for PC and next-gen consoles. It has our total focus and we wanted to take a moment to tell you a few things about it.

In the next game you will experience a globetrotting Agent 47 at the prime of his career – the apex predator stalking his prey across the world, with the support of his long-term handler Diana Burnwood and the whole of the ICA.

The game concentrates on the core Hitman fantasy of using a wide range of tools to take out a diverse group of targets across expansive, exotic locations around the world. We are building this game on the backbone of the Glacier 2 engine, using the best parts and what we have learnt through Hitman: Absolution and drawing inspiration from past titles like Contracts and Blood Money to fulfil the core Hitman fantasy. That means we’re packing in an extreme level of detail on the largest levels we have ever built for a Hitman game. We’ve adopted an open, non-linear level design approach to the game, ensuring the game will play out across huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels. Our aim is to create living, breathing and believable levels which will allow gamers to play around with the AI to create those unique moments every fan of the Hitman franchise loves.

Contracts Mode is back – you will be able to create and build challenges by experimenting with the large levels and possibilities within them. And of course, you can share them with the world and challenge your friends or foes to complete your hits. Your rules, your Contracts.

You will also be glad to hear that we have removed 47’s magic pockets. We believe that’s all we need to say about that subject.

As we get further into 2014, we will reveal more and get into much closer contact with all of you. There are so many things we have planned and we are extremely excited for the future of Hitman.

A new main character would be nice. Do people really care if 47 is in the sequel? He isn't the cold blooded killer that he use to be.

You mean PC with better gameplay, mods, grahpics, frame rate and more stuff.

Hitman Blood Money was best. Old good times when it has great gameplay and more hardcore.

Sad but true is that Hitman absolution was not that good, it was all casual gameplay and stuff because of consoles.

Absolution already killed the series for me.

Just read about the sandbox, non-checkpoint level design. Brilliant news. The reason I haven't played Absolution is because of how linear it is. You'd think that with a new generation the levels would get bigger not smaller.

I am one of the few it seems that have enjoyed hitman absolution. I see its faults but still think it did several really great things. But hit man contracts + bloodmoney with the diversity of environments from hitman 2 and some of the good improvements from absolution like the cover system? Im now very excited.

Too bad this gens Hitman was not like this. Now we gotta wait until like 2015-2016 to experience such greatness.

I would like to think I had some role to play in this as I was constantly bitching about this on the Eidos Hitman forums--the globetrotting reference was literally right out of my mouth.

Great to hear that a new Hitman is coming. I guess I'm in the minority but I really enjoyed Hitman Absolution. The game had it's flaws for sure but when it threw you into big ass open level, like Hope, it all just came together extremely well.

Absolution was amazing and probably the most underrated game I played all gen. Best Hitman game so far imo, and I played them all. I'll be eagerly waiting for the next one. Definitely on my "to buy" list

Wut? Absolution was HARDLY casual, especially on the higher difficulties. I played all of the other Hitman games. ALL. Been a fan of the series ever since the 1st game came out. Absolution was the one who gave me the biggest challenge on its highest difficulty, and it was the more overall fun game.

THIS ladies and gentlemen is why I'd rather play Blood Money then Absolution.

I really don´t want big story focus. I want more like story: "I pay money, you kill this guy"

Goog good but please make it a little harder by making the player think about his kills. It basically showed you everything in the last one.

Hopefully this means they'll focus on developing the concepts that makes this franchise unique, something I wish all devs would do. It could also just be marketing to hype the loyal fans, the ones who may read a letter like that.

Great to see inspiration being taken from Contracts. Easily a high point of the series.

I enjoyed Absolution. Play it like you want is something I like. I've enjoyed all the Hitman games though.
