Hermits, care to explain what makes Metro so special?

As a hermit I don't like it either, but then again I don't really like FPS. I always thought that Crysis 3 looked a lot better too, Different people prefer different things.

It thought it was pretty boring too.

They're good games and Metro Last Light made a major step in the right direction when it come to gun fights.

Silenced gun and going in stealth is fucking amazing in last Light...

Unless its a playable cutscene and is cinematic, if its not GOTY or dont get a 9.0 its not worth playing didnt you know?

M:LL was 8/10 at best for me.

Didn't understand the praise either. There was nothing jaw dropping or innovative about it. We've all seen this formula played before. Even though Half Life 2 is pretty dated, I enjoyed that more and the game mechanics didn't bore me as much.

The game is sub-par when compared to console blockbusters, but on PC it is one of the best.

halo is meh. killzone is special because the last 3 entries have had amazing graphics(2 and 3 relative to the hardware running it of course.)

Think I'm one of maybe 5 people on this board that openly admits that they like the Metro series, it's not loved as much as you think. Also I'm not even a hermit and I like the series, specially Last Light.

The game just feels like it's been well crafted and is not soul less

Me personally I love the post apocalyptic setting, yes the human AI can be dumb at times but isnt that the case with most games that have stealth scenes? Almost every game I play where I'm sneaking up on someone I feel like they should be able to see me but they dont. Not sure if your being picky or what but the graphics on this game is still great..... I dont want to mention the fact that your judging the graphics over a yr after its been released and in the past yr we have seen alot of graphical advancements with next gen releasing and all. If you dont like it then sell it or give it away, I thought it was an ok to good game and the graphics are still great looking.

the only thing we pc gamers said about metro last light was that it had good graphics . Other than that everything OP is saying is a strawman. I personally think the graphics of metro is hit or miss. The textures/lighting is amazing. However the faces /grass look awful. I too thought the gameplay was average at best.. Its very linear. I also thought Bioshock infinite gunplay is about as bad as metro last lights.. Which is to say its garbage..

The story was mildly interesting .. I cant say im looking forward to the next metro since that would obviously be a lie. I hope to be pleasantly surprised however...

PC gamers have been praising generic linear single player FPS games for years now. Bad story, bad voice... maybe they just look at the graphics.

2033 was great, but flawed. Last Light was awesome. Among the top 10 FPS games I played in the past 10 years.

It's not really my cup of tea either (same with STALKER). I figure it's kind of like BIoshock which took a long time for me to warm up to. Right now though, I find the Bioshock games far more entertaining than either Metro or STALKER.

As a pc gaming hermit I can't really help you. I played 2033 and couldn't quite figure out what all the fuss was about.

So I don't have any great desire to try last night.

As crazy as it sounds Animal, this game should be played maxed out at 1440. I did it when I built my latest rig and it just makes it a lot better.

Need really good specs for it though (lucky I do).

Not thought about leaving the Russian voice on, will have to do that.

I played the first metro for 2 hours or so... I didn't like it thqat much. I thought it was going to be a better version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R or something, but it ended up being a level based corridor shooter. Not my cup of tea but a lot of people love that shit so I can't really say if it's good or not. Maybe it got better after the 2 hour point I dunno ^^.

Yeah average FPS game, nice stealth moments but a very easy and linear casual game
