We constantly adapt as we learn what makes this thing tick...

We are definately not using FP16 HDR anymore, Marco implemented a cool method to get the same results using INT8. Faster and with MSAA, Winner

1080p? could still happen but I reckon 720p will be the standard but we will see. Just can't see us burning precious memory, fillrate and bandwidth for something only a few people can use...

We still haven't managed to buy a 1080p display in the UK yet... so at the mo, having to have less effects to support a TV standard we can't even buy feels a bit stupid. But if its required we can do it, obviously we would not be able to use the same level of effects as on a lower resolution.

Well hopefully its fairly obvious that 32 bit integer framebuffers are faster than 64 bit ones. So why wouldn't you use 32 bit integer framebuffers if the quality is the same?

There no real lose of quality... float RGB space doesn't make much sense for HDR, so we don't use it.

Bet NVIDIA and ATI are pissed about wasting all that silicon for FP16 stuff DeanoC

it's supposed to hurt your eyes i'm trying to make a statement about int vs Fp

the pic on the left is FP the lighing that devs decided to drop in favor of the lighting on the right the one that hurts ur eyes

BS those devs are in damage control their just being lazy didn't u see the 2 pics i posted one withe FP and the other with int lighting

do those look like the same effects to u?

this is bottom line laziness and damage control

it's almost as bad as when the PGR3 devs said the motion blur and HDR at 30 FPS will make it feel like the game was running at 60FPS

 i don'tsee any excuse for not using FP16 other than laziness

especially since the PS3 also supports FP32
