Has Greatness Arrived?

If you like JRPGs and movie-games then "yes". If you don't like JRPGs or movie-games then "no".

I'm not a fan of those types of games, so for me, my PS4 has mostly been just gathering dust on a shelf and I'm getting tired of waiting for greatness that I care about to arrive. I'm giving Sony until E3 to announce something that gets me excited; otherwise, I plan to sell my PS4 after E3.

Greatness was last gen. This gen is more an embarassment to any familiar with great gaming.

Yup, PS4's library this gen is greatness. Tons of quality exclusives and 3rd party support on the system.

The only platform doing arguably better than the PS4 right now is PC. Even with a PC you'd still be missing out on a ton of quality titles if you don't own a PS4.

Gears of war - original IP. Assasin's creed - original IP. God of war - Original IP. Last of Us. Shadow of colossus. Little big planet. Twilight Princess. Most of halo series though not original. Forza. Bioshock. Rainbow 6 vegas. Beyond 2 souls. Need me to continue?

Twilight Princess - Great game but BOTW is better.

If you're referring to good games on the PS4, I'd say it was good when Bloodborne released. There have been a handful of amazing, must have experiences on PS4 in between like Gravity Rush 2 and Persona 5 along with some of the more mainstream first party releases, but a lot of the third party games I got my PS4 Pro for have released on PC too, like Nioh. The PS4 controller is nice to have with an adapter and inputmapper on PS4 though. It's the perfect PC controller, as it complements all of my RGB components.

God of War started on PS2. Assassin's Creed has never been anything special. LBP and Beyond Two Souls were 2 of Sony's weakest games last gen. Siege is better than Vegas.

Horizon, Bloodborne, Overwatch are very successful new IP.

Nothing compared to last gen IP's. Sorry mr. uncharted. Bloodborne is a poor man's dark/demon souls. Overwatch, is like counterstrike with new graphics.

Most new IPs are inspired by or similar to something else. For example Gears of War just popularized what games like Winback and Kill Switch tried to do before it.

Which is cool, but I'm saying that this generation has just been lacking in new ideas and innovation. Like they dont want to take any risks, but just regurgitate prior ideas.

I guess but after so long it gets hard for people to come up with completely original ideas. The gaming industry is at least in better shape than Hollywood or the shitty music industry in terms of quality and originality right now.

Guild wars 2 is only good game of this generation and its still not quite as good as gw 1. Witcher 3 is diminutive

I think both last gen and this gen are good, but last gen only had 2 masterpiece level games and those are Demon's Souls and TLOU...

by comparison This gen already has 2 masterpiece level games (lol not TW3 or UC4) released and 3 or 4 more candidates for GOTG before the generation is over. I'd have to give it to this gen is for Quality + Quantity.

I think greatness has arrived in general gaming. It is just a great time to be a gamer. Tons of games to play so little time.
