Halo Reach - Graphics King

I dont see much talk about Halo Reach's graphics and I find that mind boggling. Im pretty sure Halo Reach is a good nominee for graphics king of this entire console generation.

Sure some ground textures arent the best, but look at the character models and effects. Overall, this is looking to be my graphics king of this generation.

Edit: Some of you think Im talking about console graphics king. Im talking about graphics king period. Yes even better than Crysis when taking into consideration the effects and animations.

it surely looks better when compared to Halo3 / ODST.... looking forward to Reach and hope E3 brings more info + gameplay vids from the sp campaign :)

The beta was great and the graphics have definatly been given an upgrade but i dont know about graphics king.The halo series has always looked good but the best thing about halo is gameplay and reach seems to be taking that same great gameplay and adding to it.Cant wait til the full game gets released.

I guess you don't see anyone talking about it because the graphics aren't actually that amazing, imo at least.

Don't get me wrong though. They are good, but not graphics king level.

It does look better than Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST. But graphic king? No it's not.

In kill number 9 i know this is halo and all and people probably still slide up ladders but howcome his feet arent on the ground? This game is trash and these graphics are nothing like the ones shown in the trailer. freakin liars im thorough with this lame franchise.

Having just played UC2 again last night it definitely not graphics king. IMO GoW3 holds that crown, after a long list of PC games of course.i5750at4Ghz

Overall, yeah, may not be top 10. Some PC exclusives look wonderful.

TC keep in mind that with the recent announcements for Geow3 & KZ3 i dont think Reach will be on par visually... also games such as The Last Guardian, Crysis 2 and games which might get an announcement at E3 would eventually be also better looking titles compared to Reach..

Still i do believe Reach will be a great looking title :)

To its credit, there's no other premiere console game that comes close to the zaniness and hectic battles on consoles.

The reason why Bad Company 2, Killzone 2, and Uncharted 2 look good in comparison is that their pacing is more measured. Just look at all the gameplay videos of those games. They look tame in comparison to Reach

It looks great for a game with that scale but not graphics king material yet. At least going by beta multiplayer. IMO the best looking ones on consoles are still U2, KZ2, Gears2, Alan Wake and recently RDR.

Blame the idiot who put a DOF effect on the photo, not me.

Just from the video alone A game with obvious aliasing issues, low res texures alot of objects without shadows ( and no soft shadows what so ever ) and some problematic animations ( at some point a player was floating above ground ), no volumetric smoke water that looks worst than the water on Far cry 2004 ( at least on the video you linked ) and top of all a corridor shooter with only a couple of rooms to render looks better than Crysis? No also no it doesnt look better from Arma 2 even from bad company 2 pc using DX11 or even Stalker Clear sky using the complete mod. Hell it doesnt even look better than alot of pc multiplatsadamosmaki

It was a statement, not an opinion. One just has to take a look at the gameplay videos of Reach and can see that maybe the tech can't keep up with the ambitions of the multiplayer. Bungie would have to create every permutation of stock animation just so it looks smooth. I mean, armour lock on the banshee looks stupid, simply because armour lock was made to be used primarily on the ground. In any other game, the devs would make sure it's only ever used on the ground. In Reach, you get the number one spot on best kills for using it on a flying banshee.

Just saying.

The animations suck and the graphics aren't daring (tbh killzone 2 was the same, it wasn't daring or colourful). I think they are much better than previous halo games and have the same shine as killzone but ultimately that game does have better graphics than reach. Of course this is my opinion.

Go play Halo2, and then come back and tell me its not a corridor shooter. :/lucky_star

In any case, it's in the middle of being a corridor shooter and open sandbox.

While I really like Halo Reach's graphics, all i can say is that you'll need this.
