Halo Infinite Will Feature Four-Player Splitscreen And Reach Inspired Customization System

More pieces of the game revealed.

During a livestream, 343 Studios announced more details for Halo Infinite, the upcoming sixth mainline entry in Microsoft's first-party series. Based on what was announced, it seems like Halo Infinite is still a long way off.

343 Studios is working on a new engine for Halo Infinite, which could push the game's release date to after 2019. We can expect four-player splitscreen in Halo Infinite as 343 is testing the feature in the new engine right now. During the stream, 343 Studios also announced the armor customization in Infinite will be inspired by the system seen in Reach. Also, players who reach level 152 in Halo 5: Guardians will receive a special reward in Infinite. The studio did not announce what that reward might be.

The stream did reveal a few details for Halo 5 as well. 343 Studios announced the team did not have much left to add to the game in terms of armor and emblem customization. Although it was not explicitly expressed, it was implied that post-launch development on Halo 5 is winding down as more of the team refocuses on Infinite's development. 343 Studios has teased that Halo Infinite features the coolest design that Master Chief has ever had. The developer hasn't revealed many details about the game other than that. It hasn't even been decided whether Halo Infinite will strive for a Teen rating like Halo 5 or return to the franchise's Mature rating like in the past.

I really liked Reach. Working for those loadout upgrades was fun stuff. Good to hear this do something similar.

I myself have expressed my disappointment with the SP campaign but I do believe 343 got the message and Infinite will be worlds better.

Halo losing splitscreen coop/deathmatch killed it for me.. ive played and beaten all the main Halo games except 5 which ill never play because of no splitscreen..SO i look forward to this one.

Halo Infinite does sounds really promising, and best of all, it'll be on PC just like Halo CE / 2. :)

That's totally great to hear 343 Studios is bringing back Split-Screen! Halo 5 was such a disappointing for the lack of split-screen, it really piss off alot of Halo fans because of it. Bringing back split-screen is the best news I heard all day.

Yeah, I didn't think is was such a biggie but over time I was dead wrong as it turns out millions were really put off by the change and passed on Halo 5 because of it. I hope 343 listened even harder to the gripes of millions including myself about that poor SP campaign as well. lol

It was just the matter of gamers didn't want to go buy an Xbox One just to play Halo 5 with their pals, split-screen is the foundation for Halo so everyone can play on a single Xbox console. I never understood why 343 thought this was a good idea, but I'm just so happy to hear 343 listen well and bring back split-screen into Halo Infinite :)

Halo has always been a split screen game for myself and my mates. Halo 5 not having split screen is the reason I haven't played it.

Sounds great. Personally I won’t get any use out of the 4-player split screen myself but the more options available to other people then the better it is. I love the Halo games so my anticipation for Halo Infinite is quite high.

Not looking forward to the two rumoured sku's though, strongest will just be held back by the weakest. The new engine looked go though from what i saw.

Gotta be a next gen game. I can't see them doing 4 player split screen on a base Xbox One without it melting or being a slide show.

Yes and no, everything is held back by the weakest systems, currently the S and base PS4 generally.

That is not true. You are acting as if scalable software is not a thing. Weaker systems simple would have less.

@SecretPolice: Split screen is cool and all but one thing that better be there is public matchmaking for the campaign. This is a MUST HAVE feature IMO. Going rando is how one makes new friends online.

Halo 2 Was a previous gen game running on a better console.

It's developed with PC in mind, so it's probably a given. It does sound promising so far.

A different engine doesn't mean it'll make the hardware more capable than it is. The Xbox One struggles as it is, much less with 4 different players all at once.

I mean cool if they can pull it off, but I just don't see it happening this gen.

Halo 2 Anniversary (which is what I believe you're referring to) was a remaster of Halo 2 which was originally released on the original Xbox. The 360 was a better console than the original Xbox. So Halo 2 running 4 player split screen on 360 isn't something miraculous. Did you mean to say something else?

Like I get publishers stopped putting in split screen this gen but it has nothing to do with power, it has to do with being lazy and wanting to push people into buying thier own copy instead of playing split screen with family and friends. Why are you guys acting like power is the issue here???
