Is there any reason to own Xbox anymore, if you have a gaming PC? Not many, it seems.

Srsly how many times we should answer this goddamn question , if you have PC , you don't need an Xbox one , -just to be clear when I say PC , I'm talking about good rig , not a toaster , cuz a toaster can't run a game like QB , who am I kidding , even a good rig can run a broken port like QB-
Microsoft is doing the right thing.
There will always be people who prefer playing on console or on Pc; or on both. And the fact that you can play and progress through your game across different platforms using the same game saves is a huge deal. Plus you get the Pc version for free, isn't that a pro-consumer thing? I think so.
For once I can say good job Microsoft.
Yes it most likely will. And if you prefer PC, then there probably isn't any reason to own an Xbox.
Well, you will always need an xbox if you want to experience the previous ones.

Yes, good job on saving their existing Xbox customers from a sinking boat, but why the hell would i buy that console as a PC gamer? Or are you suggesting that they can sell both a console and a gaming PC for new customer?

They said that all xbox one games will come to PC.
@groowagon: They are selling the Windows Store, so it doesn't matter to Microsoft if you game on Windows 10 or Xbox, they still get money otherwise.
It's clear that is where the future is heading, it's something Valve realized (but failed at) and Microsoft is embracing that future

Oh, ok cool. I've missed that one.
Erm, yay? I thought the Halo games that I played (CE and 2 Vista) were fun but nothing to shout about, so unless the series have changed radically since, I'm not particularly excited about this.
Old news is old. Is there any reason for you to ever post anymore?
What's that supposed to mean?
Bring back some old PC franchises M$ and put Freelancer for sale.
Freelancer is dead, it's time to give up on it. They would only get a studio that doesn't understand what made Freelancer fun to do it anyway if it was ever a thing.
Let's not forget that we only got Halo 1/2 on PC... i'm thinking of picking up a cheap 360 to play some exclusives.

I'm not asking for a sequel. I just want first one on GOG or something. You can't even buy it anymore and it's an amazing game. I don't expect M$ to do justice to the franchise with a sequel anyway.

Sure, I'd like that too.
But they need to find the right developer to continue a series with. Like CA for Halo Wars and Double Helix/iron galaxy for Killer instinct.
Because MS under that dimwit Don Mattrick destroyed all their great PC studios.

If you have a pc you really don't need either the Playstation or Xbox.. The majority of the biggest games are already multiplat and run better on the pc (with a few exceptions).. And what few exclusives there are, are in a genre that is chalk packed full of alternatives.. Which furthermore the majority of said exclusives are basically games that are short in length and have incredibly bad replay value..
I like Microsoft's thoughts on this. People will get a console if they like couch gaming, if they don't they might as well give it to PC users.

Why do you care, or a better quesiton: why would you want the game ot be limited to a console space? Microsoft is giving you the option to play on PC, on the superior, more flexible, open platform. Why is that a bad thing?
I'll go with the superior Halo 6 experience on Scorpio baby. :P
IMHO kb/m is the only way to play to play a FPS properly.
If games like Killzone or Resistance were on PC I'd buy them on that too, not on console.
Who's to say that MS won't allow kb/m on their consoles.
@sHaDyCuBe321:
As I said to somebody who laughed at playing Halo Wars 2 with a controller; it seems to me MS already announced future KB & mouse support or strongly hinted at it. Eh, I could be mistaken, dunno but seems like a logical move if you ask me.

You don't have to buy a console if you're a Pc gamer, but there are as many people who don't see the need to have a gaming Pc, so they game on console. Then there are those gamers who like to game on both Pc and console, so they can enjoy the same copy of the game across different platforms.

Ever since consoles had USB connections there was the potential to allow KB/M controls.
There was even a game that allowed to use KB/M on consoles. I believe it was a game on PS3, but I can't remember the name.
But when you allow a certain portion of your gamers to play with KB/M and the rest is playing with controllers, there is an unfair advantage. So that's why Sony and MS never support it.
While on PC, things are different: it's standard to include a wide range of control options, and KB/M will always be the ONE control options every single PC gamer has access too.
That's why GeoW 4 for example, allows PC gamers to play with Xbone gamers in co-op play, but not in competitive online play.

i did buy PS4, as a PC gamer, because i liked the exclusives.
Good. And let's hope 5 and MCC as well.
This is an interesting new strategy on MS's part, and to me makes sense. It allows them to keep control of their brands, but gives them more revenue flexibility.
@R4gn4r0k: u can buy m/kb adapters for consoles. They are like 100 bucks or something
There are like 3 games that support gaming with KB+M on PS4.
Epic fail.
To me, PC/PS4 is clearly the best combo for getting the biggest and best games library. With PC you get games from Steam, GoG, Xbox Store, multiplats, as well as many other stores that give amazing deals, but share their library with Steam. With PS4, you get Sony exclusives, 3rd party exclusives, and multiplats. With the Xbox consoles, you get 3rd party multiplats and games shared with PC. To me, it is a no brainer what the best combo is. Plus if this is true, (see link) there is even less reason to own an Xbox console. This is coming from someone that owns an Xbox, Xbox360, and X1. For those that don't follow the link, it states that existing Xbox One and 360 games may be headed to PC for people that already own them which i hope is true. If I can get my whole existing Xbox One library on PC, my Xbox One will be sold asap. I'm only keeping it to keep access to games I've already purchased on the console.

So they're not really exclusives anymore
If you have a rig there is no reason. I doubt MS cares all that much. I have a friend who has an Xbone and he's planning on the scorpio. Literally stated he hates the idea of gaming on a PC and would rather play on consoles. Outside of system wars, this idea is ingenious.
Also allowing cross platform play is great too. I can still play with my friends on console. Do I have an advantage? Probably, but I can also just play with a controller or can choose PC matchmaking only.
Literally, there are no downsides to this. Stop acting like there are.
It's all about preference on which system you want to game on. For as much as beating a dead horse for these type of questions, the answer will always be the same with not everyone has a gaming rig.
Since I don't have a PC capable of running modern games, I will buy Halo 6 for XB1, but this is good to know..

I get that, there has to be some work done on the part of MS to accomplish this. Halo Wars 2 has ATROCIOUS controls IMO.
I see there are still people struggling with the concept of MS putting all the Xbox titles on Windows 10 is a very good idea, they win out of it. Actually it's an idea they should have picked up on years ago.
If you think Windows Store Apps are any form of winning, you got us all kinds of messed up.

If you've seen any of my previous posts on this subject then you'd know I have a lot of issues with UWP and the Windows App store.
That does not mean MS bringing their Xbox games catalogue to PC is any way a bad thing, every sale on PC is one more than they would have with a game exclusive to the Xbox One. Add in the fact that you also need Windows 10 which will increase the up take on their new O/S. All of the super cows who, all of a sudden own a high end gaming rig, will need to install Windows 10 to play the Microsoft titles they all so eagerly like to point out you don't need an Xbox One for.
Guess who wins? (p.s. it's not Sony).
Microsoft is doing the right thing.

Nobody cares if you buy an Xbox console or not, that's the entire point, buy and play Xbox games where YOU want, millions upon millions will still buy the console and have no interest in PC.
If you prefer PC then play on PC, if you prefer console then play on console, if you want to play on both then play on both, it's called choices.
Stop making these shitty threads where the answers written above have already been reiterated a thousand different times.
It's plain to tell you're simply trying to put out bait, lock it up.
@NFJSupreme: the guy you quoted was talking about playing fps games with kb+m. Why are you giving prices to it, unless you want to hint that its also possible on PS4?
@dynamitecop Yeah, there are now choices. Bad choice of Xbox, or the proper choice of gaming PC. What i mean is that Xbox is useless. It's practically poor man's PC from now on.

Fair enough, I guess. Still not as big a win if they would publish their games to Steam since that would give them WAY more software sales.
