While Microsoft would not make an official comment, Xbox Evolved has dug up information that it is completely possible; Andrew Gile of Independence, Kentucky claims, "When I get to the Ark level my Xbox 360 just doesn't want to load it, and sometimes I can't play co-op, and for some reason I get these errors with reading my discs all the time." Just a short drive from Independence, Kentucky and across the river at Madison, Indiana similar reports have been brought to my attention while I was at the local game store. Jason Thompson, a disgruntled gamer returning his third copy of Halo 3, has no idea what is going on, "I just don't understand I haven't had my Xbox 360 for to long, and I treat my disc pretty well, there are no scratches on any of the discs I returned I just don't get it man." Jason didn't explain exactly what was wrong with his Xbox 360 or Halo 3, other than "it screws up".

When I got that dreaded ring of fire, I called Microsoft for Repairs that I require, but I sat on the phone...until I got tired. Frickin' ring o' fire.

What do you expect when they want to be out a year ahead so they wont have competition so people will actually buy it. I would've loved to see the 360 sales if it had come out the same time as PS3 and Wii and had these problems.

And when people quote a couple of Gamestop employees who say the 360 has a 33% failure rate.

There would be no lemmings and MS would have left the industry.

Wow, this happened to a friend of mine yesterday, I was going to play coop with 3 friends on the Ark and one of them couldnt load the level, a message appeared "unable to load content" or something like that. We thought it was his disk but maybe it's the disk drive or something.

My xbox is out for repairs right now... but highly doubt it was halo 3s fault lol I was having the occasionaly disc read errors and eventually the dvd drive stop reading all discs and was not communicating with the the rest of the system... it said I needed to put my halo 3 disc in a xbox 360...which was pretty comical error message. Even with the defects, 360 is superior to anything else on the market as its all about the games.

Everyone is retarded becuase of this. Not just people in this thread or this forum, everyone.

The Xbox has HARDWARE problems. Halo and Forza are SOFTWARE. SOFTWARE will not 'brick' your Xbox. If the game is freezing it is either because the game is scratched or fualty, or your xbox is overheating / fualty. No game will break your console. Just because kids play HALO non stop for 3 days, and blame halo when their 360 overheats doesn't mean the game broke it. End of story.

It's not Halo 3, it's the system is faulty and shows its true colors with the 33% failure rate while playing Halo 3. When I had a 360 it showed its true colors while playing Star Wars, a xbox game.

Sounds like someone has missed some MS news. I had a 360 before PS3 came out and it got a faulty HDD. My brother in law told me to take off the HDD and see if it would get past the big green X and it did so I knew it was the HDD. I bought a new 1 only to get the 3 red lights of death 2 months later. I think he's on his 3rd or 4th system.

I'm sure some people's 360's have went down while playing the game but nobody can say it was the game that did it. My first one went down while I was playing fight night so fight night obviously caused mine to brick! Or maybe it was the fact that eventually it was gonna die and it just happened to die on that game. A lot of people are playing an insane amount of hours on halo 3 and it's most likely the amount of hours that is the problem along with the fact that the design of the console is flawed!

The last I read.. it is a design flaw. It is like saying there is a design flaw with this 747 or the space shuttle. As for the percentage, you make the call.

It was in a MS news article when they announced the 3 year extended warranty to all its customers and they said they had lost $1.8 billion because of faulty consoles. They just barely announced that the sales from Halo 3 has helped them finally turn a profit in their gaming dept. I'm not going to go searching for this stuff I've read just to show it to you. If you knew anything about the 360 then you would know it's true.

It's true actually. It doesn't surprise me though, I doubt it has anything to do with the software, it's probably just the console.

So, you took one stores objectives and generalized it to every Gamestop and Gamestop Employee?

That's store policy, I'm pretty sure that stands for every Gamestop.

Wrong, if you walk in a Gamestop and said, "Can I buy a PS3?" Do you think they are gonna say, "No, you should buy a 360."? I'm sorry man, a stores policy is to sell, nothing more.

[QUOTE="rhaigun"]Millions are playing Halo 3, and one guy's 360 bricked. I don't think the problem is Halo 3.casey7672

It's not Halo 3, it's the system is faulty and shows its true colors with the 33% failure rate while playing Halo 3. When I had a 360 it showed its true colors while playing Star Wars, a xbox game.

Show me proof that the 360 as a whole has a 33% failure rate.

Ok, link to a MS article that says the 360 has a 33% failure rate, that will be proof, so far all you have done is work around the whole 33% failure rate.

You are too much. I started a thread about this and not a single person could find a shred of evidence that said as a whole, the 360 has a 33% failure rate. There isn't anything more than a few 360's here and there that are used to get to that 33% number.

If you knew anything about statistics and weren't so anti-360, you might think about the facts you pull out of the air before you state them.

Well, seeing as you're the one making those outlandish claims of a 33% failure rate, you're the one burdened with proof. Unless you can find some, your argument is pretty much null and void.
