Good news for the 5 of us who own VR (i.e. not poor) and the 2 of us who have actually played Halflife 2 VR, the much underrated Episode 1 with the best escort mission ever will be releasing soonish.

Episode 1 suck. worst Half life. glorified epilogue DLC.
Episode 2 was masterpiece.
Ouch, Cup loves this franchise, you did him dirty there

This was the general mentality when it came to Episode 1.
It's an odd one as the gameplay is better than Halflife 2 and argubly better than Episode 2. And it actually shits on 99% of "dlc".
The biggest ding seems to be the lack of narrative push or actual "new content". As most of it is recycled but refined. Which I get.
The biggest issue for me (aside from the padded ending) is the character of Alyx whom the player spends the entire duration of the game with.
The writers at the time doing their research saw players responded better to positive side-characters. Which itself, just isn't true when apply any form of context or nuance. Plenty of asshole side characters people love.
But beyond that, you have the character of Alyx cracking shitty quips and acting like she's on a trip to Disney land when the city, with everyone in it (after a civil war) is about to be nuked.
When juxtapose her character against the backdrop, it's tonally incongruent. Stupid.
Not sure if that bothers other folk but certainly bothered me.
That and the escort ending, clearly padding to save them making content lol

I also love this series.
Half life and Half life 2 are among two of greatest FPS ever made.
@R4gn4r0k: Believe this was released, at least beta.
Might check it out at the weekend.
@uninspiredcup: now all we need is a game set in the Half Life universe where you're the Gman recruiting new people.
I enjoyed Entropy Zero: 2 tremendously last year and it felt so good to play another half life game. It was to HL2 what Opposing force was to Half Life 1, albeit without the price tag.
I'm sure I'll get the chance to try out Alyx one day now that VR is becoming more accesible.
Hopefully Steam Deckerd releases before that.
VR killed Half life.
sadly we will never get proper Half life game.

Heard nothing but good things about this.
