GS reviwes GTA5 Online 7/10.. Thoughts?

While story mode and online mode are both within the same package of GTA5 GS have reviwed the Online section of the game and gave it a 7/10 while single player mode as everyone know gets a 9/10

The Good

Wonderful variety of missions and activities

Gorgeous, diverse world serves as a backdrop to your adventures

Plenty of opportunity to have memorable adventures with friends

The Bad

Plagued with bugs and performance problems

Most of the early content is bland

Does that mean the entire game is actually an 8/10 on GS? :o .. some math 7/10+9/10= 16/20.. 16/20= .80 :o

Seems appropriate based on user-feedback. I don't really know if I even want to try it anymore

All those years to prepare and it was still broken. Pretty shitty gotta say.

The entire game wasn't reviewed. The SP and MP portions were reviewed separately, and scored 9/10 and 7/10 separately.

I'm not sure what people's obsession with averages/aggregating is.

I'm waiting until it's fully fixed. Or, at least a little fixed.

Sounds fair. It's very smooth now, but the first week was terrible.

Yeah its kinda meh.... i think this will be good for Rockstar though, they will learn alot from the short comings of GTA V's online multiplayer and we will see much better from them in future games........maybe there is potential for some kind of multi player only gta game idk.

Just wait until they have fixed all issues and then play it. I am sure it's going to be a stellar experience then

My biggest complaint is that there aren't enough things to do solo in the world. Most of the jobs require two players even if they could easily be done by one person.

Playing with friends is fun. Playing solo with random people or vs people is pure garbage. To call the early content generic is an understatment. It's like: go to point A, kill a group of enemies, pick up a package, go to point B.

And yeah, play with friends.

If you're not playing with friends, you're legitimately doing it wrong.

Agreed. Preferably with 3+ friends.

Can't finish the single player due to issues with freezing in the main story so chances are I'll never get around to trying the online mode that seems like an even bigger headache.

Online is pretty solid, sure a few hiccups but seems to be stabilizing so far. Good fun with friends that's for sure.

You can cry about how certain AAA and AA games don't count, I would totally do that with racers, yearly sports rehashes, and movie-games....but Its no use.

Accept your defeat like a man. Accept that almost every multiplat is better on PC. Accept inferiority.

Probably well-deserved considering it was a shitfest for a week plus. Thankfully the single-player is the major attraction and what I'm still playing.

Impossible to give it a final verdict this early. But it is so fun!

I have to say I'm having a blast with it.

I tried it last night for the first time. I played without any problems for about half an hour, then I got kicked from XBL. Not sure if it was the game or my internet connection. Might try it later and see if it happens again. I liked what I managed to play, though.

I agree, this is by far the best game Rockstar has made as of this moment.

Vice City still has the better story, but everything from the world to the characters goes in favor of GTA V. This is basically the sequel to San Andreas that i always wanted.

God, Trevor and Michael were so well written and memorable. I liked Franklin aswell, but that chemistry between Trevor and Michael is priceless.

And that C choice song that pops up at the end? Right in my playlist, listening to it right now.

If that mean getting more games i like to play and get multiplats much earlier im glad my platform of choice "losing" to PC.

As someone who usually prefers playing single player, GTA Online is the superior component. Also, I can't really say I've dealt with any bugs or performance issues over the past week or so.

They shouldnt have reviewed the multiplayer portion separately because now the whole package is 8/10 on GS

I can't really see why anyone would care at this point, to be honest. For example, i played the game, finished the story, it's a 10/10 as far as i'm concerned and it's the best GTA game to date.

It means getting less games and getting the worst version of multiplats. Oh and you sure got crysis, witcher2, and diablo3 earlier.

How does the addition of more content make it worse?

SW is full of some of the most stupid people on the internet. Even simple numbers confuse them.

@Blabadon: meh, this online will have legs... it's worth investing in. They seem pretty focused on supporting the game with consistent content and the possibilities are just to good to deny. They just need to make the damn thing inviting... right now its a roll of the dice as the whether you're gonna even get a session going.

Its pretty simple not rocket science, online is part of the full game.. the game is shipped with both single player and online mode so if it gets reviewed in two parts then the entire package is an 8/10.

Why is online part of the full game? It shipped with the singleplayer, and the multiplayer was unlocked weeks later. Gamespot reviewed them as separate pieces, so we consider them as separate pieces for what metagame is left.

And you calling it a "flop" would suggest to me you are trying something.

GTA V didn't even deserve the 9. No real interest in the online.

Nope wasnt trying anything i only added "flop?" hoping for some interesting discussion but in the end people would just come in and talk about the TC like what you did there so changed it again as there was no point.

Again GTA5 is an excellent game and seeing what they were able to do with current gen systems imagine what they can do with next gen technology when they start working on GTA6

Also SP and MP should always be evaluated separately as they have no bearing on the quality of the other.
