Switch Doomed in 2023!?
I'll believe it when I see it.
And lol to Switch is doomed in 2023, please, Switch will be 6 years old by then.
Switch Doomed in 2023!?
haha, yeah, just like the Vita crushed the 3DS 8-)
That aside, it's just some random numbers froma random person
Ok first sony wouldn't name thier handheld ps5 portable and how would they manage to get ps5 in a handheld what's the battery going to be
1. PS5 will happen in either 2019 or 2020.
2. I don't see Sony releasing a new portable console
3. It's impossible to tell right now if there will be a PS6 or 10th console generation.
I'll buy the PS5 in 2020
Me too!
Damn first I predicted the amazing Mario and Switch record breaking sales before anyone and also predicted the PS5 release date.
I had predicted Sony was going to make early teases of the PS5 to try to kill the X momentum. We'll see.
lol, there is no momentum that Sony is worried about killing for a system that has not established any stabilized sales.
You can relax you nerves worrying if Sony will squash X's supposed momentum you believe it has that Sony would have to respond. Sony wont say anything about PS5 until the Nov 2018 meeting at earliest. I don't expect them to say anything until E3 2019 and announce a March/April 2020 release date.

I be spot on with my predictions yo.

A lot of people said around 2020...
Anyway, I can't see them releasing another Portable device.
All this is possible, but anyone expecting a release date before October of 2020 is fooling themselves. No PS has ever launched in the US before September and the only one to launch earlier than October 26th was the original PS.
@hrt_rulz01:
lol I can agree with that, unless Sony likes loosing money they need to leave that handheld market ALONE!
Like seriously, Sony probably couldn't have made a better handheld for the time than PSV and 3DS still destroyed it a million times over with what seemed like no effort at all on Nintendo's part.
For the love of gaming gods, if Sony has extra money please just put it on the development of their next gen console and more exclusives.

Eh, that was before Sony saw what Nintendo was able to do releasing 1Q of the year. All they need is a big AAA launch title (Say...The Last of Us 2?)
They'd potentially be swimming is double launch figure sales kind of like how Switch was able to accomplish with TLOZ and Mario Odyseey if they have another AAA for the end of the year (though I not expect the same level of success as the Switch is seeing).
@lexxluger: won’t happen because since they’re ahead they can work on their own timeline.
Nintendo faced the pressure of not only having to launch, but having to launch during a time frame where they had no comp.

That's an interesting way to look at it, but then again the way it played out gave them the best result possible.
The Switch launched 1Q against no competition to a tune of about 900,000 and acheived virtually the same or even more this past holiday weekend, who knew?
It was like double launch figures...and this before Dec is even here.
Regardless of if it was Nintendo's "plan" they've acheived much greater success than they would have if they had just initially launched with the traditional season trend. As a home land competitor, believe me, Sony has not over looked that fact. They see all they need is a big AAA launch title and they can pull it off.
I'd say chances for my prediction to come true are pretty good.
@lexxluger: but what IP is big enough to carry a launch in March? Admittedly Sony is great about trying various new projects, but the only Sony game that I could see carrying the PS5 in March would be TLOU2. I doubt that Sony would delay TLOU2 to be a PS5 game. They didn’t do it with the original, why would they now?

lol it worked for Nintendo with Zelda :P
Also TLOU isn't a game they "need" to release for PS4 now. Sony has so many exclusives in the pipeline I can't even keep up with all their projects. They can easily streach TLOU 2 to 2020 March/April.
The game wouldn't be a native PS5 exclusive but then again neither was Zelda and they could put a shit ton of shine on the PS5 version with next gen level upgrade runing native 4k with all the fixings.
@lexxluger: they’ll release it for PS4 then wait 5 months after PS5 and charge $60 for a remastered version.

lol, you got jokes now.
Sounds like xbox fan wishful thinking.
Maybe for some older PS3 games but let's be serious, all PS4 games will be playable on PS5 day 1; probably all native 4k.
There's a 99.99% chance TLOU 2 is being built ground up with PS5 in mind as a cross roads next gen game between base PS4 and PS5.
@lexxluger: i hope so
I love BC and if the ps5 has it it all the way to ps1, its a day one purchase for me.
The fact that i can play KOTOR on my xbox with bumped resolution and textures is awesome, i own it on PC but had issues with it crashing.
Id love to play siphon filter agian or WWF smackdown

That's not going to happen either, that would be sony fanboy wishful thinking...
PS4 is a no brainer, Sony literally has to make the library forward compatible to PS5.
PS3 and before? Eh, I am not even expecting it because I wouldn't want to be crushed. I don't know the technical limitations with PS3 but it's just no a easy or cheap task to convert Teh Cell to X86, I can live with that with what Sony has racked up in it's PS4 library.
If I want full PS Backward compatibility pre-PS4, I'll just buy a used OG PS3 FAT 60gig and call it a day.

Horizon Zero Dawn
@Nike_Air: Easy there buddy. Horizon is a great game for sure, but it’s not in the same state, let alone ballpark as Zelda or Mario when it comes to launch games.

So according to this guy in just 3 short years Sony will be able to miniaturize a PS5 into a home console. Unless the PS5 Portable will just play PS5 games with way lower settings I highly doubt that.
Doubt it. Sony would Never let this get out to the Public. It would give MS and Nintendo a head start into trying to predict what the HW will be capable of. MS would just figure out where GPU Tech would be in 2020 and what you could Cram in the box for $500. That would be pretty close to what Sony can release. Then beat by 40% and charge $600 for it.
I'm expecting PS5 in 2020/2021. No portable ever releasing. Sony should just leave that to Nintendo.
Edit: Unless Sony is purposely throwing this out there to mislead MS into thinking 2020 is the year. Then Bam release a $500 box in 2021.

Who said anything about changing the settings? I mean, hell, my Z5 Premium has a 4K screen on it lol
Don't they mean a PS4 portable in 2023? PS5 portable has to be a typo.
I could see a PS4 portable using a the 5nm node with EUV in 2023.
Anyway, PS5 in 2020 is indeed the only thing believable here.
The decision for a company to release new systems has more to do with performance of their systems they have on market and the sales of games on their system. Seems premature to predict a specific manufacturer's future console lifespan, part of it would assume a certain level of success for each, and maybe mid-gen refreshes might extend into next gen too.
