@Pedro: I think though it might maybe need a rebranding and/or pivot, it still holds the stigma of being a streaming service even though with PS4 offerings onward they have allowed for local play like with Game Pass, maybe now with all the hype building it can provide them the opportunity to solidify knowledge to consumers the service will offer local play support.
I do think they are making some strategic changes. When PS Now started it more focused on being more streaming BC and I thought I read back (maybe just rumors) they were going to split the older games to its own tier and I think maybe what they want to do is offer more contemporary offerings through the base service by freeing up revenues to strengthen its contemporary service catalog. Also there was talk about bringing localized and possibly enhanced BC to PS5, which would definitely make the BC part of it more appealing not needing to rely on streaming.
Plus with the recent day one access to Shadow Warrior 3 going to PS Now, maybe a sign they want to at least try to match what MS is doing with third parties. Adding first party games day one would also be big but they don't seem pressured to go there yet so not counting on it anytime soon. But if they try doing more day one third party offerings, think it could be good, I don't have a PS5 but if they show a significant enough challenge to Game Pass on that end then maybe MS will step up it's own efforts to bring more third party games to the service day one.
