Greatest sequel you have ever played.

For me:

Words fail me. I just cant accurately describe just how great of an OoT sequel this game is. I thought I could only dream of a Zelda game of the same quality od OoT., seems I was wrong.

Great graphics, a exellent dark theme, fun and challenging dungeons that surpass even OoT dungeons, a vast and beautiful overworld, well executed and deep 3 day system and a fantastic soundtrack. Zelda at its finest.

So, whats the greatest sequel youve played?

Super Mario Galaxy and Uncharted 2. Both this generation. :O

Warcraft 3

HoMM 3 followed by Warcraft 3, SS 2 and HL 2, BG 2, Fallout 2 and Jagged Alliance 2 (these are my favorite sequels and not the most improved ones)

Silent Hill was great, then Silent Hill 2 completely blew it away. They never even got close to topping SH2, as the only way to go from there was down.

Final Fantasy III(SNES, Final Fantasy VI as it is known now.)

Hmm, I think I agree with this one. Although I still prefer OoT, Majora's Mask was a very worthy sequel that ventured into aspects of human life and behavior that OoT wasn't even able to touch.

Majora's Mask is one of the most atmospheric games I have ever played. No matter how much you make peoples' lives better, you also have to live with the grim knowledge that they will all die at the end of the third day. I think MM depresses me more than any other game I've played (in a good way).

The game is a big mind**** (in a good way again :P )

Honestly, I wish Nintendo would make another Zelda like Majora's Mask. It was by far, the darkest, deepest, and most daring of all Link's adventures. Very underrated if you ask me.

If I must:

Strictly improved over the first game (which was published by Eidos). There are a few glitches, but the game does well at bringing the original Star Wars to one of the best experiences I've ever played. Also my number one favorite Gamecube game.

I don't know if you can consider Shadow of the Colossus a sequel to ICO, but it was pretty awesome.

Street Fighter II. I can't believe this wasn't mentioned yet. I put so much time into that game. Talking trash against your friends have never been so much fun.

GTAIII... That game was iconic for it's time.

My favorite game of all time.

Diablo II was a really good sequel. Hell, I was addicted to that game for eight years!

I whole heartedly agree.

I wish Nintendo would take a similar direction and make an even darker Zelda next, but considering the sales flop Majoras Mask was, I dont think thatll happen.

Chrono Cross is the greatest sequel I've ever played. A lot of Chrono Trigger fans criticise it for not being a direct continuation of the story, but that's what makes it so great to me.
