This should have been God of War 4 vs Hellblade only since they are both Norse Mythology and Ryse is Roman game. I'm sorry but you should never have included Ryse here. Really, why would you put Ryse right between two Norse games? Turn-off!!!

Way to show salty you are by coming in to a thread involving a Sony game and posting the worst picture you can find without any text....

I don't like the water in this game. The game's using a deferred render, don't remember what disadvantages it had other than making real time reflections harder to do/ more taxing, but... yeah looks like ooze.

Lighting......deferred engines can handle many many more light sources then a normal forward renderer without choking.

Yes, that's the plus, reflections are the minus.

Ryse looks decent but it's starting to look a bit dated compared to the newer games this gen. It's not really a fair comparison. I'm actually torn between Hellblade and GOW. Each game does things better than the other, but both manage to look fantastic.
@i_p_daily: Yes you are showing an unusual amount of saltyness lately, want to grab a coffee and talk about it?

Is that supposed to upset me :s
@i_p_daily: I think you've finally figured it out, everything you post is low quality bait, like the absolute worst. Congrats on this huge first step to becoming a better poster I.P.
even without that error that game looks average
Being a second hand arm chair gamer watching from YouTube is average, I agree.
They should probably make a new section on the board dedicated specifically for users like you who talk about games they haven't played by watching others called the 2nd hand gamers forum.

seriously though, the game doesnt look that intresting.
but yeah I am sure the real game looks COMPLETELY different then any Steam or Youtube video ever cretaed which is clearly why nobody watches them.
@i_p_daily: save that paper route money and buy a PS4 already bro. Throw your xbone in the trash
GOW destroys those games. You can tell the idiots who haven't played GOW in this thread and are talking based on shitty streams they watched on Youtube.
There's nothing out there right now that's like GOW. Playing it on a 4K HDR monitor will leave you completely floored. These screens I took don't even do the game justice at all...
These are all gameplay shots by the way, no cutscenes or photomode here.

That's exactly why Cryengine has a unique place among engines. It can do both a high number of realtime light sources as well as awesome RLR with its Hybrid Forrward + Deferred Renderer. Crysis 3 is still the best when it comes to lighting.
@tryit: Then you need to go play the game before declaring it's boring. Glad I'm a gamer who plays on PC or on Consoles. I go where the games are :)
PS4=exclusive games. PC=everything else. You should try it sometimes, you might learn something :P
@quadknight: It looks good but nah. Seen better. Horizon beats it.
It's tough for me to choose between both of those games. I'll have to finish GOW first before I pick a winner but I'll say some aspects of this game are giving HZD a run for its money at the moment. The level of detail in this game just blows my mind, I'm still trying to figure out how they push out visuals like this on a weak console.
LOL Stop, dude LOL
Well between these games, you have two that are great entertainment and one that is mediocre as all hell. All look great imo. But I'll never play Ryse again in all probability. Hellblade and GoW are great games I will keep playing.

Art direction and attention to detail mostly. The PS4's power is adequate enough to deliver high quality graphics. Look at Ryse, this game looks fantastic and was on the pathetic Xbox One.
I don't see why you guys are surprised at the graphics consoles push when there's really nothing directly comparable to them. It's not like it's doing things it shouldn't be able to do. It has great visuals within the constraints of the hardware which is something that happens every generation and has happened since consoles were around. I mean how often do we hear "Oh shit, how can they do that on X platform?!" At that point it should stop surprising you.

Well I guess for me I'm not expecting the kind of detail given the RAM limitations. Due to the fact the system and graphics share only 8GB I wasn't expecting them to cram that much detail in. It's putting TW3 on my PC to shame with all the detail it has. Obviously TW3 can run at better framerates and achieve Native 4K but that's pretty much where the advantage ends. It's all art direction and the fact it's made exclusively to take advantage of all the strengths of the PS4 but it's still amazes me.
